DC Films

Like everything Disney gets hold of post credit sequences have now become completely milked and pointless and dull.

I mean it looks fucking awful. Like CW awful.

I think because Gunn says it's the first character in this DC-Whatever it is. 

I don’t think he does, he’s emphatically said Superman Legacy kicks off the DCU.

Yeah it doesn’t look like there’ll be a universe-remaking explosion (unless that’s what The Flash was about) they’ll just get the last two movies out, then Superman L will be “this is how it is now” which worked so well for Spider-man Homecoming.

Gunn’s just going to ignore anything that came before to the maximum possible extent I think.

Smacks of marketing BS. If and when Blue Beetle bombs they'll just say it was introducing the character that will appear in future DCU media, the actual film isn't part of DCU.

After watching the Flash last night, I think WB should seriously consider not releasing any DC film until Superman Legacy.

I never stated that it kicked off the DCU. Just that it was the first character. Depending on box office success that is  . 

What a mess they have put themselves into. I think Blue Beetle was originally going to be a MAX(?) streaming only film and they decided to bump it to a cinema release. I know Gunn has to do his best to promote the current films but after him saying The Flash is one of the greatest superhero films of all time, it's hard to take anything he says seriously. 

I still haven't seen The Flash. Can't imagine I'll catch it at the cinema now and there's no way I'm paying £16 to rent it.

This is one of those situations where I wish a film WAS popping up on Disney+ six weeks after cinema release...

I think Gunn spoke his actual thoughts on how fucked a lot of DC’s movies have been and how stupid the executives are a short while back, and someone may have said something to him.

They have gotten very strange over the last year. Pretty aggressive to anyone looking forward to a fresh start. Really aggressive to anyone who points out the Snyderverse was falling apart long before WB changed JL.
Can't accept that a film with Batman and Superman in it only making around $200 profit when it was released was a massive disappointment and concern for the studio.
And for some reason they can't accept that while many enjoyed some of the films they also see it failed and needs a reboot.

Snyder has a good eye IMO but he should never be anything higher than director. Definitely shouldn't be put in charge of an IP like this.

But someone at WB should have stopped him as soon as he wanted to skip a stand alone Batman film to introduce the new Batman.

Yeah, Batman really didn’t need a solo film to establish him. I would have liked to have seen the follow-up stand-alone movie against Deathstroke, but he didn’t need anything prior to BvS.

On the other hand, I’m less keen on the next Supes film including all the heroes that they have listed. I’m sure it’ll work ok but they are lesser known characters and I was looking forward to a slower feeling movie universe again, rather than jumping in to a fully fledged thing with no background.

Would have preferred some world building before going straight to them having conflict. Chucking in WW and weird intros to Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash.


The DC animated stuff is usually pretty good.
