Yeah, Hawkman was just grumpy mcgrumps. Growy man was just boring. I did really like the persil colourfast girl from one of those washing powder ads. She was great. And James Bond was brilliant.
Edit. At least with action, personalities etc. Making the Justice Society full on villains was just silly. They could have handled it a lot better. Frankly I hated them and everything they stood for, even after the end of the movie.

Wasn't the point of the film that the Justice Society was supposed to be all representing American interests, so they didn't care what horrors were happening in Khandaq until Adam arrived, who was a threat to the western status quo? I thought that was an interesting if surface-level wrinkle.

I thought that was an interesting if surface-level wrinkle. It was, but was literally a one off line. They could have tried to rationalise it a bit better I thought. They never got redeemed or had the "are we the baddies Hans?" moment.

Because they would never see themselves or be allowed to question if Americans are bad.

I dunno, I read it as being pretty much the JS's whole deal, especially Hawkman.
Anyway, someone started doing MCU, so here's mine, as a huge Marvel shill:
Iron Man 3 - 10 CA: Civil War - 10 CA: First Avenger - 10 A: Infinity War - 10 A: Endgame - 10 CA: Winter Soldier - 10 SM: No Way Home - 10 Thor: L&T - 9 Avengers - 9 Thor: Ragnarok - 9 Black Panther - 8 SM: Homecoming - 8 BP: Wakanda Forever - 8 Guardians - 8 Guardians Vol 2 - 8 Shang-Chi - 8 DS Multiverse of Madness - 8 Captain Marvel - 8 Iron Man - 8 Ant-Man - 8 AM & the Wasp - 7 Doctor Strange - 7 Thor - 7 SM: Far From Home - 7 Eternals - 7 Black Widow - 6 Avengers: AOU - 6 Thor: TDW - 6 Iron Man 2 - 5 Incredible Hulk - 5

Finally got around to watching The Batman. As a bona fide Batman freak in my youth, it gets my stamp of approval. Wasn't sure that Robert Pattinson could pull off the physicality needed for the role. But he nailed the patented Batman glower. I'm sorry that that it took so long for me to finally watch it.

Just realised I posted that MCU thing in the wrong thread. Didn't mean to derail the DC discussion. Presumably I was distracted thinking about how good Iron Man 3 is.

Iron Man 3 above Ragnarok and Homecoming, with a perfect 10?
No thanks, I'd rather be like that miserable cunt geefe.

Getting this back on track, what do people think the plan will be for DC films? Presumably a few more solo efforts building towards a Justice League, but do you think we'll get a soft reboot, hard reboot, any significant recastings etc?
I think they'll try to keep the current League actors in place, apart from maybe Affleck (don't think he wants to do it anymore), Miller (SURELY they've got to go?), and maybe Fisher, depending on if bridges can be built or even worth building (I don't wanna kick a guy who's had a lot of kicking, but I was never keen on his Cyborg - more to do with how he was written than his performance, though, so I'm definitely willing to give him another chance).
If they do recast Batman, I hope they pick another actor roughly Affleck's age so we can get straight to having Nightwing, Batgirl, etc, without going through another origin or years of "young Batman", having to introduce a Robin, etc.

I think if they go the JLA route it will draw far too many comparisons with the MCU. They should do their own thing, establish the characters with great stories. There is nearly a century of stories to draw on. Don’t do all grim dark, get a balance of levity, light and dark; where appropriate. Know which characters lend themselves to the spectacular, and those that should be more character driven. Superman should be the showstopper.

Superman is dull as fuck and should absolutely not be the front and centre. I still find it ridiculous that Batman occupies the same universe as the rest of them.

I guess people who prefer their super hero movies a bit more serious.

I don't really wanna derail the DC thread further with more Marvel stuff, but outside of the Marmite IM3, isn't Winter Soldier usually regarded as one of the best MCU films? I don't regard that as a controversial opinion.
Liking The First Avenger more, that's my controversial opinion! 😉

(I disagree, but most like ot.) Personally though I love the first one more, but I am aware I am in the minority.

Would probably help if someone actually mentioned what movie they’re referring to there. I had to go five tweets deep to discover it was Aquaman 2.

So Wonder Woman 3 has been shitcanned, as has Man of Steel 2 and Aquaman after the sequel next year. Must be a kick in the teeth after Cavill announcing he was coming back.

I get the feeling Gunn’s general plan is to nuke it all and start again. Yeah, it feels like a way of removing all traces of Snyder. Also unsurprisingly Black Adam is dead before it could even do anything which is fair when taking into account just how badly it performed. Honestly it was a pretty poor movie that felt incredibly 90s in its approach.

Maybe its a reboot rather than sequel with him still in the role?
Also laughing at Ezra avoiding the chop as well unless they want Flash out first?
