One it's cost of the film, 2 its being used to reboot the entire franchise and lastly its had very good test screenings so yeah they are definitely hoping they can somehow get past this shit show that is Millers life and recast him.

Seriously though I wonder how many of the people who have written about what a travesty the cancellation of the film is will a) watch it if it gets released and b) be honest if it's a piece of shit.

Frankly, the return of Keaton Batman sounds like the best idea that the DC film people have ever had.

Well, quite and if Keaton is in Batgirl, just do some reshoots on that and mangle in his plot points from this.

Thing is, it might be good and all, but when they do release it I can see there being legitimate and widespread negative press about it. I think you might even get the likes of Good Morning Britain talking about it, which is weird in one respect, but it's a fairly unique situation to have a film hang around a star and the star perform the kind of ongoing batshit criminaility that Miller has done.

So unless things change or unless I'm just overestimating the moral fortitude of the general public (which, y'know) I think WB will be in for a really rough ride in the media. Could it still work? Could it still be a hit? I dunno but it feels like one hell of a gamble, and one hell of a shady hill to die on.

They did but I think the difference is the visibility of a Harry Potter adjacent franchise which is very much in the public consciousness compared to say a superhero film which are a dime a dozen and the fame of Depp compared to Miller. I'm with Britesparc that I think this will become a bigger issue when the film is coming up for release that's when the shit will hit the fan.

Exactly. It's the same people who say how terrible Ubisoft and Activision are while they fall over themselves buying Diablo 4 and that next Assassin's Creed game.
