Final series of Lost in Space starts next week, I'm going to watch the last couple of episodes of the last one to remind what happened. If anyone hasn't seen it, it is a bit teen drama for the average 47 year old on here, but I think is still pretty good, and has a great cast, including Parker Posey, who is all sorts of cool. No Jonathan Harris obviously, but then who is.

Midnight Mass. It has actual acting and is 7 episodes long.

I finished Midnight Mass last night. It's probably one of the best things I've ever seen from Netflix. I bounced off both series of this guys "Haunting" series, they seemed really cliche to me.
This is brilliant though. It's not perfect however.
I watched the Red Letter Media video on it afterwards, and they criticised people complaining about the amount of long monologues. Which to be honest I thought was a fair point.
It wasn't the length of them, but more the content, and how they broke my immersion at times because some of them are a bit too melodramatic.
A good example is when the sheriff is talking to the doctor. They are just having a chat and then he's like "did I ever tell you how I ended up on this island?" and it's 20 minutes of character backstory monologue. Which is fine, but it happens a lot and sometimes I felt like I was watching Dawson's Creek.
They are important though, and all the character building really pays off.
That aside, it's fucking amazing. Very well shot, great horror, top performances from a great cast. Just go and start it if you haven't already.
9/10.

Was Lost in Space good?
It looked quite loud in all the trailers but I’m up for it if it is going to have a proper ending and is a bit more considered than the trailers seem

It’s alright. It’s one of the few things we watched ‘as a family’ but it’s one of those frustrating shows where the dilemma in every single episode could be solved by murdering Dr Smith. It gets to the point in S2 where you are just pleading for someone to shoot her.

True to the original then. Which they should totally add to Netflix too.
I thought it was great, going to revisit it again before it comes out.

I like Lost in Space. You indeed have to accept the main premise which is that shit that can go wrong will go wrong. It's quite comical.
Something to absolutely ignore is the Christmas film with John Cheese, Liz Hurley, Caroline Quentin, Kris Marshall, and Kelsey Grammar.
It was so indescribably awful. Shame on the fairly well known actors. It's almost 2 hours long on top of it being utter shite. Horrible dialogue, non existent cinematography and colour grading, horrendous quick editing to hide awful performances/takes. The casting is bonkers. Caroline Q (61) plays as the mum of Liz Hurley (56). There is an actual fight scene between Cleese and Grammar that must be pitched at toddlers.
Stay well away. Actually, scrap that, please watch the first 10 minutes or so, then turn it off, knowing what a massive bullet you were able to dodge.

Tried to watch Cowboy Bebop but it was not maintaining my interest even remotely. Gonna give it another episode then try something else.
The music and aesthetic are nice but that's about it.

On Becoming a God in Central Florida is worth a watch. Kirsten Dunst plays white trash so well.

Is Arcane worth a look then? I'm seeing a lot of positive stuff about it here and elsewhere, yet still finding "TV show based on League of Legends" a significant barrier to entry

Arcane is definitely worth the look and there is no barrier to entry at all.

Just watched the first episode of Super Crooks. A Netflix anime production, created and produced by Mark Millar. And the concept is basically there in the name. Seems to be a show about a group of super villains. First episode was what I'm assuming is the lead character's origin story. Concept was interesting enough. Animation was rough, but the art has a sketchy stylishness to it. I watched it in Japanese because my Netflix account is set to Japanese voices and subs for anime, but this could be a series that works better with the English dub since it's set in the US.

Is Hellbound worth slogging thorough? I’m an episode in and it’s not gripping me but I love the idea of it

Is Hellbound worth slogging thorough? I’m an episode in and it’s not gripping me but I love the idea of it I gave up on it by Episode 3. Seemed aimless. Have since read that it picks up for the remaining three episodes but can’t muster the energy to return to it - especially as it seems to be six episodes building up to Season 2.

Fireplace 4K: Birchwood edition.
It's 6 years old now but still holds up.

Fireplace 4K: Birchwood edition. It's 6 years old now but still holds up. I might watch that later while I'm waiting for my birch logs to be delivered. Is it the director's cut remastered in Dolby Vision?

The Valhalla Murders. Icelandic Scandi Noir. Nothing you haven’t seen before buts it’s good. Eight episodes.. Fill your boots as it ticks all the boxes. 7.5/10

Cowboy Bebop has been cancelled. I made it part way through episode 3 before I couldn't take any more.

Yeah, it was very uneven, some parts were decent others dire, same with the actors. Disappointing.
