Only 6 episodes in but Arcane has to be the best video game adaptation I've ever seen. Every animated frame looks like it could be a painting. Writing and VA is top-notch as well. Yeah, agree, absolutely the best thing I have seen on Netflix in a while, knocked Squid game off their fake charts. Facial animation is something else (Pfnarr) quite apart from the good writing and intrigue. People are either sleeping on it or they are like Decks, and don't like nice things

Flew under a lot of people's radars but The Chestnut Man is a Nordic Noir thriller mini series. Pretty engaging.

Expanding to nordic-noir and I really liked Katla too, Iceland being bleak scenic shots turned up to 11, was sort of a cross between The Returned / Les Revenants & Dark. Not quite up to the standards of either, and the pacing was a bit off but good nonetheless

Looks decent, and pretty stacked cast too.

I said it in the Old Place but I’ll say it here too. Watch Midnight Diner.

Tiger King 2
....
Have not seen any marketing for that. But it's a thing and it's worthless. No narrative, just random snippets of recollections that amount to nothing.
Garbage and shameful.

Looks decent, and pretty stacked cast too. This looks excellent, I'm actually quite excited to see it. The whole thing seems to be an allegory for climate change denial, or maybe just the circus of distractions that is modern life. It's been a while since I've felt excited to see a film, aside from the extended cut of Rocky 4 this weekend.

I'll be getting a month's Netflix for the family for Christmas.

I know how to party! 🙂
We can't really justify the cost year round or I'd have it. We have Amazon prime and Disney+ (got the deal) but cancelled our TV licence as it's £14 a month we can use better else where.
Netflix at Christmas is just a nice treat for the kids when they're on holidays, plus my wife and I can watch Lucifer and I can watch the Witcher, which I assume is out now. We're all looking forwards to it. 🙂

December 17th for The Witcher, so you should be golden for a binge watch.

Cool. I'm going to start Netflix around 4 December so they have it for their January holidays as well.
No doubt the bloody Elf will get the credit again.

Ok, so I’m a Miranda fanboy, but tick, tick…boom is so far very good, if you’re into musicals, that is. If you like Hamilton, and Dear Evan Hanson it’s a must see.

I take it all back. He’s crossing his arms in the pool scene. Amateur. I can see why for a certain demographic. Vanessa Hudgens can really belt them out and Garfield is a reliable lead. My biggest woah, is how old Josh from the West Wing looks. Is it really that long ago?

Yes same, man can't do much wrong for me. The kid watched Vivo a while back (which I had no prior knowledge was Miranda) and it's not only a good film, but has a soundtrack I genuinely love. Only saw the trailer to Tick, Tick...Boom tonight, but is on the agenda for weekend viewing. Looks great.

Didn't help that my TV settings had motion smoothing on, which made the action scenes look terrible, changed that and it made a noticeable difference, but still, it felt quite stiff in a lot of places, and just... odd in others. Can't put my finger on it. (Also, whilst I love the anime, I'm not sat comparing the two, the new version just feels a little off).

Even compared to Cabin in the Woods which isn’t an enormously long time ago.

I rewatched Cabin a few weeks ago as part of a Halloween binge and he hadn’t seemed to have aged that much. I guess time catches us with us all, especially in the waistline department, as I’m certainly feeling that way. Surfin’ USM.

It is indeed beautifully animated, I'm really impressed by the look of it. They've put so much detail and polish into the visuals. I'm not familiar with the source material at all, but the setting and story so far (I'm three episodes in) aren't exactly original, but the world is so brilliantly realised it doesn't really matter. Looking forward to watching more.

Final 3 episodes of this season/arc just dropped but haven't gotten around to watching it yet but this guy summarizes my feelings on Arcane. I also feel like the less you know about LoL lore the better you will be for not being able to predict what happens to the characters. Also, WTF USA is wrong with you? (besides the obvious ofc)

I was actually pleasantly surprised by cowboy bebop, although I did have very low expectations going in. Up to episode 6/7 and quite enjoying it to be honest.
Agree with others that Arcane is probably the best, or one of the best, netflix animated series to date. Never played league of legends or know anything about it but didn't impact my enjoyment of the show in any way

I probably will watch Arcane, but I think I'm gonna tackle Cowboy Bebop first. But on that (Arcane) note, did anyone ever watch the DOTA cartoon on Netflix? And is THAT good, as well?

Not seen the DOTA one other than preview vids. I can recommend Castlevania on Netflix though, it is definitely aimed at an adult audience. Neither of these come close to Arcane though.
I enjoyed Dragon Prince as well, though its more YA orientated

Review scores aren’t all that, but I cant’t see Arcane being lauded in the same way as the some of the other 9.x shows on IMDB in 20 years. Sure, its a well made show that obviously had a lot of attention put into its creation, but for me, once past the first three episodes it lost a lot of its spark.
Also, the Academy professor gives me far too many Snarf flashbacks for my liking.
