I'm looking forward to 3 body problem. Apart from 2 trailers I know nothing of it and it has my interest piqued.
I started watching Loudermilk last night and already 5 episodes in. It's very good. I thought it was something new after just appearing, but it's on season 3. Turns out the netflix algorithm knows what I like

Yeah it aired on some limited network in the States that went out of business (AT&T?) so Sony rescued it and put it on Netflix and now people can finally watch it.

I gave up on the book part way through. The show seems to have solved my issues with it though in fairness, so looking forward to it.
Unless I've missed something, they've jettisoned the utterly dull main character.

I found the book kinda unsatisfying. The central concept seemed interesting at first, but I was expecting it to go somewhere cooler.
That trailer has a lot more shots of London than I remember from the book. Though it does seem to have some of the China stuff near the end.

Blue Eyed Samurai is fantastic viewing. Had it on in the office while working and my productivity dropped for 2 days. Just watched the first episode as a result of this thread. Absolutely fucking superb. I was in constant awe of the general animation style, perfect blend of hand drawn-stylised with CGI and modern almost game-like photorealistic rendering. Production values through the roof, beautiful art, love the setting and the story being told. Only one episode in but yeah, if this is sustained it's a total beaut. Had seen it pop up on my feed but always dismissed it as. Netflix trash. Had a look on IMDb and it scores really highly. Thanks Thread.

Yeah It's properly stunning, top tier animation and overall package. It's become an all time favourite of mine in the genre

I don't know that I'd personally call it top tier in storytelling. There's nothing wrong with it or anything, but the story is pretty rote stuff that I've seen a million times before. Right down to characters weirdly being unable to tell that the main character is - *gasp* - a woman.
It's still great, mind! But I'm there for the pretty visuals and choreography, not the deep intricacies of the plot.

Right down to characters weirdly being unable to tell that the main character is - *gasp* - a woman. It's still great, mind! But I'm there for the pretty visuals and choreography, not the deep intricacies of the plot. Storytelling is just not about how original a story is because, honestly, there are no truly original stories left to tell. It's about how well that story is told, and Blue Eye Samurai is S tier storytelling. While modern audiences will find it weird that nobody can see that the main character is female, the social mores of earlier times made such deceptions harder to detect. I decided to give the Netflix adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender another chance because penalizing the writing for having to cram an epic story into a much shorter format and the abilities of very young actors didn't sit right with me. While I don't agree with some of the cuts made to the story, it's nice to see that the major arcs are well represented. It's also obvious this series was made to delight long-time fans with the inclusion of so many of the minor characters. Also, I am happy Netflix decided to let them finish out the story.

*shrug* It's cool that you really liked it! But to me it's the animation that makes that show, to the point where, if you took it away, there wouldn't be much left for me to really grab onto. Everything aside from the animation - the twists in the story, the pacing, the characters, the voice acting - is just... fine. It's no Pluto. But yeah, not much point in arguing about taste.

Watching Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen series at the moment and it's as enjoyable as the movie for me.

Watching Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen series at the moment and it's as enjoyable as the movie for me. The AV Club praised it while the Indy slated it, so I presume the truth is somewhere in the middle. At least I'll be able to watch it safe in the knowledge that, unlike the film, I won't have to grit my teeth through another round of "Charlie Hunnams' Wheel Of Amalgamated Accents"

Consensus seems to be that if you like Guy Ritchie, you'll like that too. I'm a bit over him, don't think I even finished the film.

I think I liked Blue Eyed Samurai as it just reminded me of back when I was actually in to anime. Back in the days of Shinchiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus, Samurai Champloo) or Production IG (Ghost in the Shell in particular). Sane eye sizes, no hysterical melodramatic high school characters etc.

Blue Eye Samurai 9/10 Top notch animation, absolutely sublime visuals and engaging characters and story.
I don't usually have the energy to binge a series these days, this was an exception.
Netflix better pick up another season.

Saw that earlier, dreadful review. Too much written just summerising the show.
