This show is excellent. Brutal fight scenes and it's stunning to look at, ended up pausing it at a few points just to grab screenshots.

Leave the world behind 8/10 Thought it was terrific, engaged me throughout, and is not far from my thoughts of where this world is heading someday.

Adam Sandler is doing another "serious" film. Synopsis is "As an astronaut sent to the edge of the galaxy to collect mysterious ancient dust finds his earthly life falling to pieces, he turns to the only voice who can help him try to put it back together. It just so happens to belong to a creature from the beginning of time lurking in the shadows of his ship". Paul Danno also features and it's based on a recent Czech sci-fi novel. Teaser doesn't show much but it's intriguing. Say what you will about Sandler's comedy roles but his dramatic turns are usually fucking good.

Rebel Moon 5/10 Yeah, it ain't great, but I watched it all they way through, though I am a captive audience due to flu over all of Christmas break.
Screenplay really drags it down, CGI is ok, but the sets look off. Not helped that the characters are puddle deep.

I gave up halfway through it last night. Someone really needs to tell Snyder that slowmo should only be used in moderation.

I wonder if his R rated extended cut that’s out next year will just be more slo-mo and a rapeier rape

I gave up halfway through it last night. Someone really needs to tell Snyder that slowmo should only be used in moderation. The running time of the assembly cut was 15 minutes too short and he couldn't be bothered with reshoots.

Berlin is out today... A Money Heist prequel that I didn't even realise was a thing until just now.

Oxygen 7/10 French Sci-Fi flick that had been on my NF list for a few years. Excellent, considering there is only one actor, Mélanie Laurent, the lead in Inglorious Bastards, on screen throughout, nice and twisty.
A very well made and acted film that I doubt more than a handful of people have watched.

Third season of Sunderland til I Die is coming next week I think.
Hopefully it keeps up the standard of the first two because those are the best representation of how it feels to follow a club I’ve seen in a documentary. Wrexham apes some of the beats but it lacks the same emotional punch STID had.

Excellent news. Really enjoyed the previous two series.
Definitely took you through the highs & lows of it all.
I need to give the Wrexham one a go at some point too.

Wrexham is good fun but it's got a sheen to it that STID didn't have. It still hits the right notes but perhaps brushes over some things. A bit too positive at times (which ia fine).

I’m sure I read somewhere that Rob being shown the Sunderland series is a big part of the reason he started the whole Wrexham project in the first place.

Yeah that's right, it was a covid watch recommendation from Humphrey Kerr. He was brought in as a consultant on Mythic Quest as he'd actually played an MMO and was dating one of the cast.
Rob got curious about football from seeing him watch Liverpool matches during their writing breaks. Humphrey suggested Rob watch STID to better understand the game.

Been watching the Avatar, pretty good, very good production values and I don't wanna strangle the kids.
Seen some sniffy reviews, but its fine.

I loved the old animated series and this live action remake seems okay... Not as good as the cartoon but certainly better than the film version, but that set an incredibly low bar.
But because I'm very immature I do giggle to myself anytime somebody is referred to as a "bender".

My worst for that is in Beavis & Butthead Do America Mr Anderson refers to himself as a homeowner and they responded with a ‘you said homo’ and it pops into my head almost every time someone says homeowner.
Not even in a homophobic way, its just such a stupid joke its seared onto my brain somewhere.

Been watching the Avatar, pretty good, very good production values and I don't wanna strangle the kids. Seen some sniffy reviews, but its fine. It's unfortunate that the NATLA series has to be compared to ATLA when both should be taken on its own merits. However, I am only human and am not yet suffering from Alzheimer's so I am struggling to even get through watching NATLA. I stopped after the first 2 episodes and highly doubt I will finish the series. I know it's unfair to do but I can't help but constantly compare the 2 and NATLA seems like its writing is fanfic level and the acting high-school production when stacked up against ATLA. But at least the effects were decent. On the upside of resubbing to Netflix for NATLA, I did finally get to watch Blue Eye Samurai and, wow, the hype is indeed real.

Blue Eyed Samurai is fantastic viewing. Had it on in the office while working and my productivity dropped for 2 days.
