So Netflix is throwing a hissy fit that it's a luxury that's getting dumped by people as cost of living crisis hits home. Their plan seems to be - raise prices - introduce ads - "crack down" on password sharing Maybe stop spending money producing shite? We’re down to Netflix and Disney+ as our only paid subscriptions and honestly if one was getting dropped right now it’d probably be Netflix. Especially now there is some “free with ads” content on Prime meaning I can finally do a full watch of Babylon 5.

I have free Apple TV running for another few weeks. I dropped Disney+ and Amazon Prime but still have Netflix running. I have enough stuff on it to keep it going but can definitely see myself just subscribing to different ones for a month to binge some shows when fully released. e.g. Apple TV when Severance, Ted Lasso, Foundation etc. come back Prime when Wheel of Time comes back and the LOTR thing if good. Disney - Maybe if the Kenobi thing is good?
They can get fucked with me sitting, paying month after month though. Their cynical drip-feeding bullshit has guaranteed that. Rather than just put decent stuff out and get subscribers to stay, they remove one of the biggest improvements that streaming has given us by cynically releasing episodes per week. Wankers.
They are all cunts though, Prime with it's horrendous UI and fucking adverts playing ,all of them with their Autoplay bullshit, Netflix with it's bullshit tiers, price and mediocre quality. At least Apple TV+ and DIsney+ have solid image quality. I 'll be tempted by HBO Max if it ever gets here.

I guess the main Netflix recommendation right now is “dump your shares”

The market is just completely saturated. What we need is an umbrella company to pull all of this content together under a single unified service, on one box/app and offer us these 'channels' on one bill.

Finished Glitch last night.
I thought it shat the bed a little bit in the last series, they basically had 2 episodes worth of story and 6 episodes to fill, so a fair bit of pointless, mildly entertaining guff as filler. As a whole though an absolutely fantastic little series that has a satisfactory conclusion. Well worth a watch if you like light scifi/paranormal guff.

With the ability to roll on and off whenever you want. Apparently the Sky Glass Puck will be made available for use on other TVs soon - may do Netflix, Disney and Sky.

I can barely recall the 3rd series, I'm pretty sure I watched it but it did seem fairly unremarkable compared to the brilliant first 2 seasons. I'd definitely recommend it as well. Stateless looks like it could be a good watch too, produced by the same guy as Glitch.

If gaming has taught us anything its that the Umbrella Corporation will only make things worse for all involved

How long until they all introduce 1 year contracts to stop the flitting between services and binging for a month

That has occured to me. Think they'd struggle, however.

Perhaps after creeping the prices up they’ll hit us with a smashing 1 year deal for only £109.99, or stick to monthly for £18.99

Are we headed for a 80s style gaming crash in streaming? Is it all about price? I think there is only so much TV a person can watch - where as eating out or a night on the beers is crazy expensive too but we'll almost certainly not cut back on that.

In the US it’s basically all bundled and rolled into other service plans anyway. My cell provider gives me Netflix as part of my bill, my girlfriend has the same with Hulu/Disney+/ESPN, I have two years of free Apple TV+, Prime is included with…prime, and Paramount+ I somehow have for free and I don’t know how.

You can get Netflix on EE contracts here, but it’s the basic sub and only if you buy an android phone

It's nice having Netflix Premium tbh, with content in 4K and Dolby Vision.

White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch
Fucking killer title that, combined with the music, is sadly kind of the best thing about this Netflix documentary.
I mean, it's not as bad as most Netflix documentaries, because whilst it's just as shallow and vapid and avoidant of the real issues as the rest (how do they do it? It's like they must have really good editorial control to make so many mediocre and kinda-insulting docos), the subject is also pretty vapid, and the main issue, "A&F were astonishingly racist" is so straightforward even they can't entirely fuck it up. Especially as they interview all the right people.
Worth watching very casually because it's pretty funny and a lot of the interviewees are kind of witty (unusual in a documentary).

Enojoyed that BCS episode a lot, but, boy, I’m lost. The days of me remembering a complicated plot from yonks ago are long gone. If they were ever here. No idea what’s going on.

That was starting with me in the last series.
I could somehow keep track of his lunatic brother and the argument with the big lawyer company, but all the gangsta stuff was beyond me. It also seemed to reference BB a lot more which was even further in the past for me.

We start watching, then 5 mins I have to pause it because I can see my wife can't remember what's going on.
Then I spend 20mins helping her remember while getting frustrated that she can't. And then an "oh yeah I remember now"

Yeah, I had to watch a recap on YouTube after starting S2 of Ozark and not having a clue what's going on. Doesn't help that it flashes forward at the beginning of the first episode to really add to your confusion.
Hell, we've been watching Hanna recently and if we've had a couple of drinks it's usually "Eh... How did the last episode end?"
