He’s helping himself exploit space with a cursory “oh it’s good for mankind in general” thing on the side. Example - SpaceX now monopolizes radio frequencies. They also massively fuck over their engineers and get by on the “pay a lot of people very little with bad conditions is better than well paying a few highly skilled ones” line of thinking. SpaceX in general also don’t have any solid goals other than “space, get stuff into it”

Don’t forget all the spy satellites they launch and the orbital blight on the horizon they blessed us with.
And you can absolutely guarantee if they somehow managed to get to Mars, it wouldn’t be for the betterment of mankind.

He’s genuinely one of the main reasons I wouldn’t buy a Tesla. The other being they are hideously ugly.

I like how his fake hair looks these days, though. If he dyed it ginger he'd be Beaker from The Muppets.

Don’t forget all the spy satellites they launch and the orbital blight on the horizon they blessed us with. One of my most shocking RL moments of the last few years was walking home at night, looking up, and seeing points of light in rapid procession across the sky, all following the same path. I guessed it was his satellites, and looking it up, it was. Motherfucker is literally changing the sky. This is some supervillain shit. I still want Starship to succeed because it's potentially a really good workhorse launch vehicle for decades to come, but I honestly hope Musk himself gets eaten by a velociraptor in his underground lair or something.

I get the Musk hate but the reality is if he wasn't doing it there wouldn't be much going on.
If NASA blows up a satellite it's a wasted hundred million that could have fed dead African children. They won't and can't take the risks. Better to contract the work out to Drax.
Space exploration is private enterprise now. Falcon 9 and private moonbases.
I'm just glad someone is doing it. I'm more worried about China's space junk than I am Musks.

So Netflix is throwing a hissy fit that it's a luxury that's getting dumped by people as cost of living crisis hits home.
Their plan seems to be - raise prices - introduce ads - "crack down" on password sharing
Maybe stop spending money producing shite?

Curious to see how they plan to crack down on sharing passwords without impacting families who use it legitimately. I can see this going horribly wrong and them haemorrhaging even more subscribers.

This will severely impact my hobby of ruining peoples watch lists when they leave netflix logged onto an airbnb or hotel TV.

I've been happy to pay for a premium Netflix sub because I was very late to the Netflix party and there was a lot on there worth watching, it was a good source of shiny Dolby Vision content, and I was happy to prop up their "operate at a loss" business model.
However, now I've sorted through the trash and watched everything of value, it's now up to Netflix to provide £16 worth of quality new content every single month, which isn't happening. By a long shot.
It doesn't even appear to be a priority for them, and instead they'd rather nickel and dime their customers over fees and account sharing.

I'd be happy to have Netflix as a on/off rotation on alternate months. Doesn't make that much sense to keep it. The gf pays for it but there's only so much shit you can sift through.
Streaming market is gonna crash either this year or next.

I don't keep subscribed to anything. Unless I forget to cancel the sub I try not to have more than any one service at a time.
At this point I'm so far behind most things I don't have any FOMO so just wait until there's a few things ready and available to watch.

Currently have Amazon, Netflix and Disney (and Spotify) all adding up, and really questioning the value.
The problem I have is my daughter almost exclusively watches stuff on Disney and the boy only watches Netflix, so could be hard to get rid of either of those.
I watch a bit of Disney, but there's very few Netflix exclusives I watch and the film selection for anything more than 15 years ago is frankly shocking. If you want real life crime drama/docs there seems to be loads of that though.
Amazon I think I should outright ditch, their exclusives and series are generally poor (or not to my tastes), and their film selection isn't much better, pretty sure I would still get next day delivery anyway on most stuff even if I cancelled (and I can wait an extra day anyway).

Currently have (and pay for) Netflix, Disney, Amazon and NowTV (Ent & Movies). Costs me a small fortune every month, but they're all currently shared with my parents and my daughters.
Speaking purely from my point of view, all charging extra for or cracking down on sharing is going to achieve is that I drop my sub to the basic level as I will no longer need to pay for 4 concurrent streams and only have a bog standard 1080p tv, and I know for a fact that the three people I share with won't be getting their own subs.
It's the same argument as the effect of piracy on the games market, yes there may be a few cases where a purchase would have been made if the high seas weren't an option, but by and large the people downloading cars off the interwebs were never going to buy one anyway.

Netflix has a few shows I want to watch. Going to watch Ozark, then there's a few things I still haven't seen (should probably see what the hype about Squid Game was at some point, or Alice In Borderland. Still got even some older shows to watch too. I think Godless has been on my list for years now). Looking forward to new seasons of The Dragon Prince.
Amazon has the Expanse and I think a noticeably better film selection than Netflix. Not amazing, but better.
Disney is ripe for me now as I still need to watch Boba Fett (or at least the episode when Din rocks up, dont really care beyond that connection) Hawkeyee and (once it's out) Moon Knight, as well as the last few Pixar films.
So yeah, cba with the whole watch-immediately hype train.

Like robthehermit, we have the bloody lot. Prime, Netflix, Disney and Nowtv. Oh, and Hayu. The only one we don't watch a huge amount of is Nowtv entertainment. I don't pay full price for that or movies anyway.

I've come to similar conclusions. I currently pay for Netflix & Spotify, have access to Disney+, Amazon (3 mth trial), Apple TV+ (6 mth trial). Netflix and Spotify are the only services I would consider paying for. Apple TV lacks content, and Amazon has generally poor quality stuff on there (and missing English subs on a lot of things + an awful UI) so definitely not enough to sweeten the pot when it comes to a Prime subscription, which just isn't worth it in my eyes. Something I've been doing is taking out uSwitch SIM only deals, some of which come with 3 months Prime Video, or 3/6 months Disney+, depending on the deal. Even if you're already on a uSwitch SIM only contract with O2, for example, you can just take out a new uSwitch SIM only deal and it'll override your old one... but you still get the free Prime Video / Disney+.
