I meant there are different tolerances, I mean if you but the aqua terra close to your ear and shake your wrist you might be able to hear the rotor faintly. However this is perfectly fine. I've owned some automatic watches where your can hear the rotor loudly when you are walking around the house. Just been to a store, and the 41mm is dead silent when shaking it next to your ear, whereas the 38mm makes a slight sound, like a small steel ball rolling around a metal plate. Probably the ceramic ball bearing which is not present in the 41mm/8900. I'm a stickler for those things (I wish I wasn't). The GF prefers the 38mm but thinks both work, the sister-in-law and her husband prefer the 41mm based on photos. Also, the 41mm has a 20mm lug width compared to the unusual 19mm.

How big is your wrist? In circumference

Only 16cm I'm afraid. Here's the 41mm on my wrist: And another, terribly exposed "wide shot" by the salesperson:

It looks OK to me. Maybe a bit on the large side but not overly so.

Thanks, think so too. 38mm strikes me as a little to small. 40mm would probably be ideal. But there's never the perfect watch, is there.

Looks OK to me in the 41. My wrists are even slimmer at just over 15cm and 41mm is my upper limit really. I have the old(ish) Seamaster 2254 in 41mm and it works as the lugs are relatively short. Tried some other 41/42mm watches with longer lugs and can't really get away with them really as the case height is just too great.
Saying that, it does depend on the overall appearance. My Speedmaster is a tad large for me really, but I can get away with it as it doesn't look chunky.
My perfect size is probably 38mm though in reality.

That Seamaster 2254 is very very nice. Has about the same lug to lug as the 41mm Aqua Terra.

Went to an "Omega Boutique" this morning, decided on the 41mm and bought it on the spot. I can't stop looking at it, it is just stunning.

I’m seriously considering a Bulgari Octo Finissimo Titanium. I’ve got the opportunity to get one pre-owned for a decent price. But they weigh about as much as a packet of crisps so not sure if I’m being an idiot. I feel like there could be severe buyers remorse

I feel like there could be severe buyers remorse I’ve owned two titanium watches, moved them both on quite quickly. The combination of the dull grey and no weight really doesn’t work for me.

Yeah that’s what worries me. I had a look at a Grand Seiko snowflake a while ago and it felt like a toy.
I mean… Ideally I’d like a platinum Day-Date so perhaps titanium isn’t for me.

I met a bloke yesterday who was wearing an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak rose gold chronograph. Just nonchalantly rocking 60+ grands worth of watch

In fact I was waiting for my friend outside the toilet at a tattoo convention at Alexandra Palace. Honestly, brave dude wearing that much money at an event in London. I was like “heavy hitting watch, nice”. He replied that he collects watches so lord knows what else he has if that’s his Saturday afternoon out-and-about piece.
I would have chatted for longer but it was already awkward and I was veeeery drunk.

I've decided I don't need any more watches other than the reissued Hanhart 417ES. It's completely beautiful and would satisfy my Steve McQueen manly fantasies. It's also not so expensive that I feel continually deranged lusting after watches that are completely outside of my pay grade.

I'm thinking of flogging my Tag (kirium F1) as I use a sports tracker all the time now and never wear the Tag. Its a shame, but its just an expensive paperwight these days.

May not appeal to many but I love that dial. Inhouse movement, COSC-certified chronometer and a clear back display.

I also like that Breitling a lot. I didn’t see that exact model but similar and they’re quite thick, which put me off a bit. But they’re very pretty.
I’ve “registered my interest” for a submariner, an oyster perpetual (the Tiffany blue one), and a Daytona. Chances of me getting either of the latter 2 is very, very slim but hey ho may as well be on the list. The market price for those is triple the MSRP, absolutely mental.. I’ll likely get the sub within a reasonable timeframe
Also I realised that the Bremont head office / facility is just down the road from me in Henley. They have a tour thing so I’m going to book that in the near future just for something to do.

Re: thread title – after a few months I can say that my watch runs fast ⅓ of a second per day. Master Chronometer indeed.
