Well at least this isolates him, which in turn limits his usefulness to the other oligarchs.

Warner mercenaries are the ultimate scapegoat.
Atrocities caught on film? Wagner.
Lost a crucial battle? Wagner.
Campaign didn't achieve objectives? Wagner.
It may all backfire on Putin if Prigozhin feels like he's going to be pilloried and held responsible he'll pull all support and fuck off to Dubai before wnding up in a Siberian gulag.

I'm doubtful of whether China will stop supporting Russia. People said it would happen months ago, yet they seem closer than ever. They also said Russia would quickly crumble under the weight of sanctions, but again that hasn't happened yet, and there are indications that other non-western countries are picking up the slack.
Nowadays I'm not feeling optimistic about this whole thing, despite the media trying really hard to paint a "don't worry guys, everything is going fine for the Ukrainian soldiers, and nobody in the entire world wants to support Putin" picture of the situation.

I am not really seeing the media painting that picture, tbh. I guess it depends where you get your "media" from.

Xi visiting Moscow for a three day visit is unlikely to have Winnie the Pooh trying to get Putin to settle down a bit. China are screwing Russia as much as possible because they're running out of friends. It's not going unnoticed elsewhere though.

And the fact Russia are using these at all speaks volumes about how many of their modern tanks (eg 1960 onwards lol) have been destroyed in the last year.

Isn't Russia just going to do to the Ukrainian tanks what the Ukrainians did to the Russian tanks? ie: use drones and rocket launchers to take them all out?

It's the Russian Cavalry we need to worry about once these are destroyed.

The Russians don't accompany their tanks with infantry, and they generally just flung them straight down roads with little tactics. They have also been awful at combined arms (coordinating infantry/armour/artillery/air support). And they have awful supporting logistics, with massive corruption leading to bad upkeep, non existent spare parts, and no support vehicles - so that even slightly damages tanks (more likely in the first place due to bad maintenance) couldn't be recovered, and just left instead of Ukrainians to recover (and then fix!!!).
The Ukrainians use the terrain much more effectively with carefully coordinated manoeuvres, and they have the support and logistics to back them up.

Where are they even finding these tanks from, the tank museum? There's no way they've been maintained all this time.

There was a bit on the BBC that showed the Ukrainians at Bakhmut had a Maxim gun in the trenches there, that's pretty much a First world war era thing. It was apparently still very effective against infantry. Yeesh.
More effective than 60 yr old tanks against modern era ones I suspect.

In the same way as the conscripts shown with Mosin-Nagant rifles could be effective, trained and in the right place, if you had time to position and set it up correctly, it'd be reasonably effective in free fire against infantry, especially if you could bunker it and protect it against grenades, rockets etc.
600 odd .303 rounds per minute can do a lot of damage.
