Ukrainians are also way better at fortifying positions properly and using pre fabricated concrete. And they rotate people.
The Russian examples I've seen are awful.
A lot of the wounded and dead this winter on russian side was exposure, hypothermia and trenchfoot...

There was a bit on the BBC that showed the Ukrainians at Bakhmut had a Maxim gun in the trenches there, that's pretty much a First world war era thing. It was apparently still very effective against infantry. Yeesh. More effective than 60 yr old tanks against modern era ones I suspect. Yeah, but iirc that same article mentioned that the Russians have been using the same kind of drone tactics that the Ukrainians were using so effectively at the beginning of the war. |
