I'd hate for Sony to be the only 'premium' console hardware in town but I wouldn't be surprised if MS went software only in the next 5-10 years.
It's incredible how much MS fucked up following the 360.

I think there's probably a school of thought within Microsoft - not everyone, maybe not even most of the people at Xbox - that they're a software company whose software should be as accessible as possible, and their hardware should function as a premium way to show off that software. A bit like how Surface laptops are very good, but expensive, and help to showcase different aspects of Windows and Office. So an Xbox shows off how good their games are, but you don't need an Xbox to play them. Again, I don't necessarily think this is Uncle Phil's POV. But I bet some people think like that over there. I would go with this take. They've been of this way of thinking for a while tbf, on a basic level consider how they really pushed to put Office on EVERYTHING.

My friend has gamepass app on his samsung tv, also cloud allows people in countries that can't afford xbox console to play (which is good)
But I would hate MS to stop making consoles as I prefer owning a console as the internet can go down or be shitty

I'd like them to add a premium console type, that's basically a beefy PC. That and some belief in VR

Yeah, I'd love it if they had an Xbox that was a cloud streaming box, an Xbox that was broadly comparable to whatever the current PlayStation is, and then a whopping £1000 thing that was effectively a high-end PC.
I'd also like the Xbox equivalent of a Steam Deck.

At the point wouldn't it just be better to get a pc?

I'd like a data centre near me. Just runs a bit worse than Stadia did and GeforeNow runs now.

From what I tried I definitely don't want gaming to go that route.

All I have ever tried is immortals through Strada on my ancient laptop and I was pleasantly surprised how it played and looked. I'm about 150mb internet speeds.

Stadia was surprisingly good. I had beta access when it was first announced. They let us try Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It looked about as good as playing on an Xbox One. I hear nvidia GeForce is even better.
GamePass Cloud’s servers are ass though. The quality is like YouTube before the Google purchase.

At the point wouldn't it just be better to get a pc? I don't have room for a PC and I tend to find it more comfortable playing games on the sofa nowadays (unless they're strategy games where I hunch over the keyboard).

Honestly though, for all the stick it got from some quarters, I'd be perfectly satisfied with the Xbox equivalent of whatever Sony called their console streaming device.

I've had geforce ultimate it's a total game changer. It was hard to tell the difference between it and a local game.

Microsoft should ditch xcloud and have a channel on Luna like Ubi+ have. In my limited streaming experience, Amazon are shitting all over MS from a great height.

Well they got Marcus looking 100% spot-on, not too sure about the Indy face though.

hmm... still very much interested to play a new Indy game, and the puzzle side of it has my attention, but I did think it suffered a bit using what looked like a little-improved Wolfenstein1/2 engine. Seems like it prioritises 'clean' high res presentation over any post-process effects. I think, as an Indy game, it may have benefitted a more 'filmic' treatment. If you look at the likes of TLoU2 - everything looks to 'sit' in the environment more naturally.
For me, Indy and Marcus looked good but not great and risk venturing into the uncanny valley.
Still, had the most interest for me of the games showcased.

I think that would be iDtech 7 by now, which would be what they used for Doom Eternal. Wolfenstein New Order was idTech5 and New Collosus was 6.
