Knowing my luck they'll probably announce an upgraded series X next month. No...no...they're not doing that...definitely not...

Id quite like a series x pro...
Getting to that point where I am jelly for the 4k maxed out settings on PC for flagship releases.
I just really don't want to faff with a PC...

I woke up today and realised I had bought a series X around 2am last night. Bloody hell. Really hope you like Starfield

I'm fine with the console experience right now tbh. Especially as you kinda know that it will work as opposed to many a big pc release nowadays which have shat the bed more than often.

I have to say, apart from some BC stuff, the decision to go Xbox over PS5 this gen hasn't really paid off yet. I did have fun with FH5 and Halo but really need something good from id
It's not as though I feel like I'm missing out on anything on PS5 though, except maybe another run of Bloodborne

I'm more than happy that I went Xbox. It might as well be a free hobby outside the original hardware purchase and the very rare game purchase that isn't on game pass.

I played Starfield. Well tried to. It was not good. I wish it was. I wish SO HARD that it was. For me I had noticed the rot setting in with Fallout 4. It felt dated even back then compared to games such as Witcher 3, but it still had the feeling of discovery as a plus. But yeah, I fear for Elder Scrolls 6.

I agree the rot set in during fallout 4 (although Skyrim had the "radiant AI" quests which went into fallout 4 with the awful defend settlements messages) I would love a fallout 5 but not with the current managment of todd howard involved. Also there was that thing with bethesda customer service and some lead designer talking shit to people about starfield reviews, they don't want to listen right now, they are sniffing todd's farts

Nowhere else to rant about this. My PS5 died last night. Randomly shut off while booting it up last night. Left it, tried again a couple of hours later, did the “you didn’t remove your external drive properly. Repairing” schtick. Immediately after, it shut off again. Left it. Tried one final time before bed, it shuts off during the repairing phase.
Come back this morning, it boots into Safe Mode and asks me to do a factory reset, which requires downloading the system software off the website and installing it through a USB stick.
Do that, and immediately after install, it shuts off again. RIP PS5, 2020-2023. (I’m not including today as its final resting day since I was Weekend At Bernieing it).
I’m posting this here because I had traded in my Series X about six months ago due to the wide overlap in library between the two. But I decided to rebuy it about a week ago because I missed it, its backcompatibility plus I had like a year and a half left on my GamePass subscription, and my laptop wasn’t handling Starfield or Forza as well as I’d like. Actually Starfield played pretty closely to the Series X performance-wise, but Forza was an 11fps slideshow.
What incredible timing on my part. I was almost out of a main console.
I am now an exclusively Xbox and Switch player, like Alison and Dave. It’s us three.

That sucks. I've been lucky over the years. Only console to die was the 360.

i’ve had two PS1s, a 360 and a Wii U die on me.
My PS3 just recently stopped reading discs too, although it still plays digital games fine. But it got put away also, since that generation of games always ran better on Xbox.

I don't think I've ever had a console stop working. Had PCs that have. One of the buttons on my Xbox controller went a bit crap, so I've got a nice green one now. That's my worst console breaking story and I consider it to have quite a happy ending tbh

I really want to order a custom Xbox controller at some point. Nothing crazy, just want to make the d-pad, triggers and analog sticks light grey, body white, and have the obnoxious Jolly Rancher Xbox 360 face buttons. Make it look a modern Dreamcast controller. Or 360 controller, really.

I am now an exclusively Xbox and Switch player, like Alison and Dave. It’s us three. Point of order: us four. I haven’t had a PlayStation since PS2, couldn’t afford PS3 and I wasn’t all about the exclusives so I switched to x360 and never looked back. (sorry for your loss)

Never had an Xbox break down on me. Have gone from Xbox to 360 to One, to One S to One X to Series X (times two, one for living room, another for the loft).

I’ve had a PS1, PS2 and a 360 all die on me. Also, my first Switch actually warped to the point the cartridge slot became unusable.

Dead PS3 and 360 here. I probably dodged a bullet by upgrading to the X/Pro mid gen last time around, but can't really see me doing that again. Makes more sense to just save your cash for the proper next gen.

PS1 struggled to read discs at times but just about managed to power through.
360 was the one that completely died on me, think I had 2 replacements issued by MS so at least that was something.
My PS5 has switched off randomly a couple of times but thankfully has booted back on like nothing happened. Would be gutted if it finally goes but I've paid a couple of quid a month to insure it just in case.
Switch is fine despite being in sleep mode for years. Massive issues with drift on the joycons but fixed that myself.
Series X has worked perfectly but it's the least used console, bit disappointing that I can now finally afford all the consoles at the same time but the two powerful ones are almost identical save a few exclusives.
In years gone by I would end up selling one console to cover the purchase of another and you'd have distinct differences between the consoles and games.

Had 2 original playstation 1 have the CD drive stop reading discs with FMV video, it would jump about
had 3 360 with RROD.
Also ps3 (fat) 60 gig iirc with the yellow light, got it repaired by 3rd party but only lasted 7 or 8 more months (sony wanted £120/£130 to fix it)

My original x360 was sent for repair under the extended warranty for RRoD and returned with a non-functional DVD drive, which MS swiftly repaired again (do not recall if they actually swapped the console or not based on its serial number). After that, it worked like a charm until I retired it for a x360 slim (could still be working, maybe I'll power it on someday to collect my original Dark Souls save with the bottomless box glitched characters).
Other than that, all our consoles did not fail.

I never had RROD, my original 360 started making graphical errors instead.

3 x 360s died on me, all with E74 errors. Once I got the slim all was good and that’s still going strong. Had 1 Xbox One die. All deaths were replaced by MS though so not too bad.
My original fat PS3 died too. Unfortunately no warranty replacement there.

My gen one Xbox 360 never died. My gen one fat PS3 got the YLOD, died and was fixed about 3 times before I bought a slim replacement.
