My Series X behaved similarly after deleting and installing several games. I assume it's some clean up procedure in the background. Usually disappears after two or three days.

Haven't noticed any kind of gradual degredation. It was right after deleting and downloading a load of stuff (maybe 100-200gb or so but mostly smaller games) so quite a noticable and sudden change
Does a factory reset mean I'll have to download all the games again and is there an easy way to ensure my saved games are all backed up in the cloud before I do?

I'll see how it goes

You'll have to dl all your games yes. And you'll have to do your hated thing and connect to the internet while playing the games to make sure the save files are backed up to the internet.

Oh really, for every game individually? I thought there'd be an option to sync all saved games. What a pain in the bottom. I'll have to make an effort to go through everything at some point, or at least the ones I've put the most time into and wouldn't want to lose progress in. At least I know now

I may be wrong but I think you have to do for it individual games. Can anyone confirm?

I'd always assumed that as soon you connect to Xbox Live any non synced data would automatically sync, and that you wouldn't necessarily have to launch each game to force it.
The FAQ on the Xbox site says "You must have a regular connection to Xbox to keep your data in sync. Playing offline may cause your cloud data to become out of sync. ***Your data updates each time you connect to Xbox***."
But then there's wording elsewhere in the article that's not quite as clear, so lord knows.

Yep, if I've not played a game for a while it auto syncs the next time I play. Pretty sure it asks you what you want to reset when doing the factory reset, So you can make it keep all that stuff.
Otherwise move everything to a storage device first.

Series X is £360 over at Amazon. Between that and £380 at various outlets like game and Argos.

Can't deny that's quite tempting (Series S owner wanting to upgrade) but that said there will almost certainly be an updated (and hopefully less black brick looking) model out late 2024 so I'm sticking for now.

According to FTC leak rumour mill, the updated model will allegedly be a discless cylinder.

Ditto - just bought a new TV and would love a proper 4K machine but can't afford it and I'm hoping for a refresh next year too.

Despite my determination to continue purchasing physical games on PS5. I am happy to go digi for XB due to GP. What will happen when my GP sub expires in 2.5yrs not sure but will cross that bridge when I get to it!
Hoping that a Digi only refresh might include 1yr GP in price... would be nice and would make sense to promote the digi only model.

Lots of places flogging the Series S + 3 Months GPU for £189.99 this morning as well. Think you can even get a £20 voucher thrown in if you go to GAME/Sports Direct. Mental value really.

And if you’re new to Gamepass there’s a lot of great stuff to get through in 3 months.

As an S owner I can confirm the S is an excellent entry level option for GP (amazing value and had a strong recent upturn in quality games, the indie game options have been strong for a long time) if you already have a PS5 for the AAA games. Even Starfield runs very well on S! Dead Space also very good performance!
if you prefer spending hours in your pants shooting randoms on CoD or playing sports games you might prefer an X for the FPS.

Hooray for automation. It would be nice to know what's going on sometimes though or to have the option to do things manually. Like a PC

Good news! I agree: While I love the comfort of not having to care for system maintenance, every now or then I wish I knew what happens in that black box.

Yeah, hadn't thought about it before but I miss a good old defragging and whatnot.

Anybody know how long it takes for billing to switch back to Microsoft from BT if you use the latter for game pass? My year ended yesterday and BT account only showed options to sign up, not manage then. MS account is still stuck on managed by BT.

Mine happened straight away as far as I can remember, just made sure BT recurring billing was off in advance and I returned to the year I had left with MS.

Shout out to MS for being pretty generous on the refund stakes. Picked up NBA2K24 on Monday and played a good 5 hours or so trying to get a feel for it but it plays worse than the previous year and is a lag-fest when trying to play online (US only servers?)
Refunded 5 mins after a request. Nice.

Yeah, made sure recurring billing was switched off ages ago. Billing still doesn't seem to have flicked back over to MS, though.

I'm almost pleased they are ditching it. The heavily reduced pay-off is not worth the in-game rewards turn in prompt popups!

Good riddance to that app imo. It's a massive load of shit. Sad that they're slowly killing off rewards though, felt like a reason to turn my Xbox on every day.
I'll probably hobble along until I get to my next milestone and then just not bother with rewards.

Hope they move them as the 2500 points for 10 week streak is one of the last big bundle of points they give.
