You joke but you just know MS have thought of" ultimate plus" for gamepass where you don't get ads
and there will be fanboys that will defend it

I haven't had the CoD advert either. Is it for CoD lovers maybe?

I've checked out the games a few times when they've popped up in the rewards app, so you'd expect me to be on the vomit inducing ad list. Don't think I've ever actually played one on Xbox mind you.
No sign of it so far.

I clicked goodbye and barely noticed. It's less annoying than the steam pop up, probably.

I clicked goodbye and barely noticed. I did the same, but my hands were shaking with outrage whilst I did it.

The 12 tabs of ads on the dash are still the biggest piss take. Yes I don't have to scroll down but they took away our ability to pin more than 2 groups to it.

Really annoying how they reduced the amount of pinned tabs. I had three regular ones; my games, my kids games and then one for media apps. Now the only way I can access the latter is through the guide button rather than on the dash.

So there goes my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Again. These things are marketed as being heavy duty, hardcore controllers but this is the 4th pad that's died (counting Series 1). They feel great but they're so shoddily put together and have a habit of crapping out just after the warranty ends.

I only had 1. Which died as you said just after the warranty expired.
Rubber grips started coming off.

While not the Elite, I've gone through 3 pads on the Series X since launch. I play for a few hours maybe 3 times a week these days, so hardly excessive use.
All the previous xbox consoles I've used the original pads they came with at launch and still work now. Unless I'm just unlucky, this generation they seem especially poorly put together. I've had stick drift on one occasion, straight out of the box.

I got good innings out of my original one. Rubber grips started to come away too eventually and it looked a bit shit superglued back in place.
I got a bargain Amazon warehouse return Elite 2 which developed a random power off fault, so went to MS and the replacement has been solid so far. If it develops another fault then I'll just Karen it with Amazon support. ("CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT!!!! REEEEE")
At least you can just buy the core controller without all the gubbins now. Not that I want to...

I just hope this new fangled controller that is rumoured to be arriving next year is better put together.

TBF any true elite user should be going through a pad a month.

I've never owned an Elite, but I did have terrible luck with Xbox One pads. Ended up with two with stick drift and one with a dead trigger.
My XSX pads are fairing much better. So far.

Have had one XSX pad with stick drift and one where the RB just collapsed in on itself. Second was likely me being too heavy handed (fingered?). First was only after a couple of months.

In my entire time using Xbox consoles (so over 20 years at this point) I've had two problems with pads: the Xbox One controller I got at launch eventually just bust, with one of the sticks stuck; that was maybe two years or so ago. And my main controller is still a Design Lab one I had made about a year before the Series X came out, and I've worn most of the rubber off one of the thumbsticks.
That's it. Every other controller has been fine. I doubt I play quite as much as others on here - if I'm lucky an hour a day, although that would have been higher in the 360 years. I guess the Xbox One controller would have been through the wringer with my kids, too.

Mine always seem to be left bumper issues. I play a lot of FIFA, and that's the switch player button so I'm going to assume it's that but I'd still expect a pad to last longer than a year.

Both my son and I have had to buy replacements for the official controller and both were the same reason. Lb not working properly, both pads you had to really press hard down on the button for it to maybe register that you were pressing it. Great pads otherwise

The lb/rb buttons are definitely iffy. whichever lb or rb was used for swinging your sword without a weapon art in Elden ring killed my pad that came with the console. It did get used quite a lot mind, but you would have thought they'd be robust enough, or maybe some bosses got me pressing it a bit too much when getting annoyed at the multiple attempts they took.
The dead thief/assassin you get bloodfang(?) from was particularly irksome for many attempts and one of the others of that jail thing was also *really* annoying to finally get.

Actually this bumper talk has reminded me that before the analogue stick cocked up, my Xbox One pad did have a dodgy bumper button too. Sometimes it'd seem to stick, other times it'd seem like it wasn't registering the press.
Anyway, I still think one legitimately crocked pad in twenty years isn't too bad, but again I don't think I'm a "power user" necessarily.

My last out of warranty claim was £60 to fix. Cheaper than a new one but also it wasn't a completely new one. They sent a bare bones unit back so all the thumb sticks were still worn. Frustrating.

My Series X LB fucked up after 18 months or so. Three quids worth of plastic from eBay later and it’s sorted and I have red sticks now because why not?! I remember the 360 ones being all but bullet proof.

xbox pads are really badly made, my first series x controller - the A button stopped working and barely used it when I first got it in 2021-ish (xbox sent me a new one) Seen loads of posts on reddit about elite controllers going wrong and the fanboys down voting the posts so they get hidden!
my xbox one controller I got in 2015 is only just now has dodgy sticks (I did replace the bumpers about 4 years ago) as one of them stopped working. Since 2020, it seems the quality of the pads have dropped in quality

Why is stick drift so common now, is it just using cheaper parts? Ps2, 360, ps4 pads, never had any issues. Switch and Series x pad, both drifted. Possibly could of lived with the x box drift, it as it was a really small upward drift, that could be dialled out if the game had deadzone correction, and could maybe done the take it apart and clean it thing, but lazy so bought new pad instead.

With MS rumoured to be extending their wireless protocol licencing to more 3rd party manufacturers hopefully we'll see some decent alternatives in the future.

Zero problems with my pads. I play probably 2-3 hours a day average, across two series x consoles and controllers, but mostly on one of them.
