Can anyone recommend a good charging kit for the Series X controller. Looking for something where I can ideally just plug the controller into a usb cable to charge it. I dont want to keep having to change AA batteries and all the extra faff that this creates. I want something affordable and which has a decent battery life. Personally I use the official play and charge kit, but PowerA do some good stuff I'm thinking of picking up one of these after someone posted about it the other day.

Eneloops for me. Lasts longer than anything else, and has the bonus that the charger can be used for other things too.

You have a link for this? I assume it is still a battery pack/batteries which you need to swap out? Ths is NOT what I am after, I want something where I can just plug in the cable (or perhaps a dock for the controller), similar to how the PS5 works.

For an extra fiver you can have the dock as well, it's the same one I linked above.

Yeah not sure about the dock. For sure for only a fiver extra its good value. But it does take up extra space, and I am limited on unit space now.
Will have a think about that one.

Yeh it won't be for you - they're just rechargeable batteries, albeit good ones. I have 4 batteries so just always keep 2 topped up. I personally find that more convenient than a dedicated dock, and the batteries last ages, but I can see the appeal of a dock so fair play.

Had a mate round, brought his Xbox, for an old fashioned game night. Set him up with my work monitor (that I bought future proofed for gaming). 1440p HDR 144hz gsync. Oh my did series X games look incredible and smooth. I was playing on my 49inch Samsung (non 120hz) and I was jealous even if it was smaller screen (he could just sit closer...).
Think I either need to upgrade TV or move the Xbox up to my home office. (I don't think the third option of a second Xbox is quite as advisable).

That Series X smoothness (was the monitor VRR capable?) is half the reason I bought an LG OLED a year ago, but I still haven't got a next gen console, and it feels vaguely ridiculous.
I'm interested in Flight Sim, but not much else, so I've been waiting for more game announcements and price drops.
What a bad decision... I honestly thought the Series X would be widely available by now - along with the PS5 - and there might even be some deals leading up to Xmas.

I've got a series X and Ps5 this year from using the hot stock app and stock informer telegraph. You won't get deals that you want (i.e. random headset, extra controller), but you won't pay ebay scamming twat prices either.
Sign up for those and make sure your phone notifications work in standby and you're sorted mate.

I signed up to stock informers telegram alerts about a week ago. I had a shiny new Series X delivered to me on Monday. It sits nicely next to my PS5.
You can get them if you really want by beating others to the punch by signing up to the alerts

Thanks for the Stock Informer recommendation. Was surprisingly straightforward to sign up to email alerts.
Still haven't decided between the new consoles, and I don't have room for both. I'm veering towards a Series X because the first-party Sony games just don't interest me, and the Series X just seems the nicer, less janky console with better features.
A friend had a PS5 Currys VIP code, but it was for a bundle and I just want the console, not to be upsold things I don't want, but I may just have to accept it's either a bundle or nothing.

Dont rely on the stock informer email alerts, as they come through too late. Sign up to the Stock Informer Telegram alerts. I was alerted about 30 seconds before Amazon was even showing as in stock on their website! The emails come through normally after all the stock has gone!
I bought a Series X last week even though I already ownded a PS5. The Series X just offers exceptional value with Game Pass. I literally managed to get just over 2 years worth of game pass ultimate for about £3 a month. Sony just cannot compete with that and I refuse to pay £70 per game. I can message you how to take advantage of the gamepass offer if you decide to go this route, although it has been discussed in the gamepass thread as others helped me to get the offer.
If the Sony 1st party games dont appeal to you, then there is not much reason to buy a PS5 imo.

Totally second user richyroo, Series X is mint - game pass is amazing value and only since bought a few classic games it doesn’t have (Dark Souls 1-3 & Tony Hawk). Defo get on the stock informer telegram alerts. I got mine off Very, just have to be quick when you get the alerts.

I recently went for the Series S as all I wanted was a Game Pass machine where I can take advantage of the xbox exclusives. So far I have loved my time with it, my lad has 6 months remaining on his game pass which it let's me use. Will definitely sign up for a 2 year deal when that expires under my name this time.
If budget is an issue or you already have the PS5 and find it hard to justify the Series X (like me) I would recommend the Series S. Storage might be an issue but I've downloaded about 5 or 6 games (some small and some large) and it works for me.

Have joined the Telegram groups for stock alerts - thanks for the heads up on that one.
Still not sure there's any games I want to play on either console apart from Flight Simulator, so might just get a Series X as a flight sim machine, then sell it if I'm getting no further use out of it and can't find anything on Game Pass... or it becomes evident all the better exclusives are on PS5.

If you can't find anything else you want to play on Game Pass then you're doing games wrong and should probably find another hobby.

Yes I do wonder if games still offer the sort of depth and interest I want from them - They only seem to offer passive entertainment, especially the bigger games. That's why I've heavily reverted to my other hobbies of late.
The games I've enjoyed the most over the last 3 years odd have all been on Switch.

I tell thee, Flight Sim got its claws into me. Bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS, I’ve bought a few extra planes off the marketplace, I’m looking at aviation charts so I can choose the appropriate airport approach and departure, and now I’m putting together a PC so I can play it at much higher fidelity 😅

There goes my hopes of owning one of the new consoles.
I've just watched the latest Digital Foundry analysis of the revised PS5, and there's seemingly no way you can house a PS5 (and I assume Series X) in a media cabinet, due to airflow restrictions.
My TV takes up the entire top of my media cabinet, and the shelves also have a non-removable back panel, further reducing airflow.

I have placed my Series X on my table, totally separate from the telly. One of the benefits of being single! It stands alone and proud like a homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey. I feel like a monkey swinging a bone when I see a game quick resume in glorious 4K/60fps

Haha, I might do that, also being single. It'd look flippin' weird in my living room though!

Nah, the Series X is a fantastic looking console wherever you decide to put it, certainly more appealing than whatever it is the PS5 is supposed to be.

I've managed to fit both my Series X and PS5 in the space behind my TV (CX55) and the wall. Both fit perfectly and no problem with airflow.
