Yeah my Series X is kinda half tucked away behind the tv with the disc drive just poking out the side for accesibility.
It doesnt look to bad at all, unlike that monstrosity of a PS5 right next to it!

That's the thing that's putting me off a PS5 the most; It's just a monstrosity. I can't bring myself to buy one, at least not in its current form factor.
Nothing about it feels accomplished or refined. It's just this weird, plasticky white thing that feels badly designed, at least in terms of aesthetics and practicality.
I'll just have to go for a Series X and put it behind the TV.

There goes my hopes of owning one of the new consoles. I've just watched the latest Digital Foundry analysis of the revised PS5, and there's seemingly no way you can house a PS5 (and I assume Series X) in a media cabinet, due to airflow restrictions. My TV takes up the entire top of my media cabinet, and the shelves also have a non-removable back panel, further reducing airflow. I have my series X laying horizontal with the fan part pointing out over so the console looks like a square. I'd like it stood up as I think it's looks smart, had the PS5 laid horizontal as well but it looked horrible so I now have that stood up on the outside of my entertainment unit |

My Series X stands on the floor next to the telly cabinet. This is mostly fine, except I do need to hoover it, as swirling little eddies of dust tend to accumulate around its vents.

I tell thee, Flight Sim got its claws into me. Bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS, I’ve bought a few extra planes off the marketplace, I’m looking at aviation charts so I can choose the appropriate airport approach and departure, and now I’m putting together a PC so I can play it at much higher fidelity 😅 Hang on a minute... Marketplace? I don't like the sound of that. Aren't all areas/airports unlocked from the start? I was under the impression that the game's main selling point is that it represents the entire earth using map and weather data. Do you unlock new planes as rewards, or so you have to buy content as microtransactions with real money? |

There're a lot of aircraft in the base game (more if you go for one of the Deluxe/Gold versions of the games) and indeed all the airports in the world (within reason) are represented. The base game uses AI to guestimate a lot about them and they can look ropey.
The devs themselves are putting out massive free upgrades for various places in the world that add bespoke airports, photogrammetry based towns, cities, and landmarks, and improve the terrain.
On top of that there are 3rd parties doing the same, usually in the gaps where the devs haven't been.
You can lose 100s of hours on the base package and free upgrades, but if you want a specific aircraft or landmark you can use the marketplace. Some of them are really good! But not essential to the game by any means.

Some free, most paid for. Sadly, the cadence is rather slow (MS QA) and some of the fancier planes probably won’t come to Xbox. |

Quite like that mid range solution. I've got a 1tb SSD plugged into my Series X to hold all my last gen / 360 games and benefit from quicker loading. However now more and more games are launching with or getting patched Series X support my internal NVME is getting pretty full. To be fair the NVME>SSD transfer speeds are pretty decent but an extra 500gig of space wouldn't go amiss especially when the likes of Gears 5 and Flight Sim are 100gb+ |

The 1TB expansion is routinely under £180 now, so £130 for half that isn't great. Hopefully the RRP of £130 will drop to £99 during sales or whatever, at which point it's a genuine choice.

When I do track down a Series X I'll likely just play the standard edition on Game Pass. Sounds like there'll still be plenty of content to play through. There's plenty of both. It's not a "game" as you probably know, so no unlocking things or whatever you might expect. I do think the landing challenges are the bees knees though, I could play those all night long. In fact, I have. Many times.  |

It's named Microsoft Edge in the listing so would be under M. If it's not that, are you on the beta/alpha thing? I know they're eventually introducing a new version. |

Thanks to the forumites who recommended the Telegram / HotStock alerts. I just managed to buy a Series X from Amazon \o/
Don't think it comes with any free Game Pass Ultimate though, but think I'll try and track down a cheap copy of Flight Sim, if such a thing exists. Cheapest I've found is £45 for the digital version.

Nice one. You might as well stock up on cheap gold codes and then do the £1 GPU trick. You could easily get a year's sub for less than the cost of the game. Or if you've got the cash to spare, max your sub out at 3 years.
