Really looking forward to it now. Just got sort out what I'm going to wear. Oh, matron I think you've just decided.

14 songs in the end eh? That's pretty fucking good going man. That'll be a fair length of set as well, nice one.
Got any others booked in for this year? Or just getting this one out the way first?

Yeah, think so. We've got another practice on wednesday without the drummer, just to tidy things up. Then a normal practice on the Friday night with the drummer, and then saturday morning, we can start setting up ready for a 8:30 / 9pm kick off. We're aiming to just plough through all 14 songs, but will play it by ear if either me or the drummer need a quick 10 min fag/comfort break, and that's about it really. I'm just playing along each night to the songs to try and get them fully ingrained, but not much will change from now until we go on. I just hope we can get it all recorded and sync'd up afterwards. Really looking forward to it now. Just got sort out what I'm going to wear. Oh, matron Are you throwing in a couple of covers?

I might just do a sort of smokey eye thing with a mad t shirt or something. I'm crap at this type of thing.
yeah, 14 songs - takes about 1 hour 30, so about 1 hour 40 if we have a quick break or something. If miracles happen and the crowd demand more, we have a few in the back pocket we could piss about with, or just repeat a banger or something.
Guitarist wants to play in the next town (Glossop) next if this goes ok. We're kinda using this one to see which songs work in a live environment, as we're not sure yet. So the plan is to chuck the kitchen sink and see what sticks.
The good thing about the place in Glossop is that they have a proper function room and a sound engineer, whereas this one on Saturday in the pub is just a case of getting the levels the same as the drummer and stand out front and get it the best we can.

We did talk earlier about this but the guitarist used to be in a covers band and has done it to death and I'm inclined to agree. We've got tons of stuff lined up. Even when someone goes for a toilet break or something, we'll come up with something on the spot, make a note of it, and then carry on with the setlist. Just trying to ride the creativity while we can!

How many folk are likely to be there?

Well, this is the thing. Everyone in the village is talking about it. The night that is, not just the live music. The new pub live-in managers love live music, so they've been promoting it like mad, plus our synth player has worked loads and spread it everywhere as well.
Plus, it's the first time since covid that there's been anything on at the pub - so I think it's going to be full. Everyone will have been paid, it's a Saturday, it's halloween, it's fancy dress, there's a thing for kids between 3-5pm, there's live music and a dj/disco afterwards, so there's a whole day of it. My facebook feed is currently full of articles about it
Maybe 60-70? I don't know really. I'll see if I can get a vid of the crowd or a panoramic or something!

That's going to be a great sized crowd man. You need to crowd surf in an inflatable dinghy at the end.

haha
Well, if last Saturday is anything to go by, where there was nothing going on, it was absolutely rammed and I could barely get a seat, so even if just the people we know and drink with turn up, that'll be enough.
If we're going to play, then might as well fill the place

If you take a dingy that sorts your costume out too. Sailor.
Be great playing to a decent crowd. I'm totally not jealous.
I'm jealous.

I've still got a bit of apprehension, as I haven't been on stage for fucking yonks, but I know we'll have a blast. Come down and watch it

Haha, just gone to the pub for a few where we're playing and they've done the Halloween decorations. Guess who's playing in the corner with the freaky figure? photos.app.goo.gl/FFjMcT151oLbzrtE9

Well, all those tables in the picture are being moved so we should have a bit of room to move about.
But yeah, I did a double take when I walked in!

Absolutely fucking amazing! Nailed it and the whole crowd appeared to love it. People dancing etc.
Was quite apprehensive for the first few songs, but we hit our stride and just went fucking mad!
After the pub, we went back to mine, had about 50 joints till 3 in the morning just totally buzzing.
Let me dig out some vids

What I had forgotten about being on stage was the pure energy you get on top of your normal energy. Everything felt like a piece of piss no matter how complicated or fast it was. Just kept locked with the drummer throughout. And a nice blonde lady provided some nice compliments which was a nice boon
