If you fancy a laugh this was me 13 years ago! Can't see why we never made it! Haha. Should have stuck with the funk band. youtu.be/sOxFhnnwJjMApologies for the lack of embedding. I'll have a proper listen after work but that's awesome man. What one are you. On the right?

See? That's all that matters. I've never known what the fuck I'm playing.

It IS a cool lifetime hobby. I don't know where I'd be without it. Currently doing the fifth and final track for my own stuff for an EP and started a new album of stuff with my mate. I don't even give a shit if it's good or not. Makes me happy and that's all that fucking matters.
Yeah back in the band days I'd run through the stuff most nights, constantly. We used to have three 6 hour rehearsals every week and were as tight as hell. Bloody loved it. I don't play a tenth as much any more but can play good enough for what I want to do (although I do try to push myself a little - even managed a bit of tapping the other night for one of my tracks). Zing And yeah, I think once you've been in a band, you just need the practice to get rid of the rust - the rest I'm sure we're all good enough to do.

Yeah I do miss being in a band (guitar) I'm 37 now and played since I was 16. Probably for 10 years was always in some kind of band. That fell away with marriage/kids/work. Would probably make more sense to apply this new desire to learn, to the guitar. I'm ok but nowhere near good enough for someone that's played as long as I have. Just something about the piano that's been calling me last few months. I wouldn't worry. I turn 51 at the end of March and I'm still going. Fuck it. I'm going to keep going as long as I fucking want! The rest of the band aren't spring chickens either - drummer is 46, guitarist and his missus are both 48. I'd just play about with whatever you want to. I don't really give a shit about skill levels anymore - I just keep doing stuff till it sounds good, basically.

This is ace Wunty - definitely listen to this with sound - it's similar to your stuff. I'll see if I can dig out something from that last gig, hang on

I sadly (or rather, probably for the best) don't have any videos of any of the bands. I did this thing where I purged shit after each band ended. Kind of regret that now. I do have some pics though. Including this lovely one which thankfully obscures me a bit and shows me in action (the action being me looking at my bass wondering how to play it)

That's the only thing about this band that is missing in my eyes. We're not a funk band, granted, but I fucking love funk. I'd love to join that guitar and beat with my bass for some funky stuff!

See? That's all that matters. I've never known what the fuck I'm playing. We've got a song called full moon that we don't even rehearse anymore. We just fucking play it. We play the structure the same every time, but the drummer will change his lyrics randomly, and I often wander between the root notes just for shits and giggles to see what I can find. It's just got to sound good and it's job done

As for not knowing what's going on half the time, this is our half decent semi professional photo of the band - I will decipher what exactly is happening here - Top left - me, half pissed, can't move because of all the gear, keep hitting the drummers ride cymbal. Top right - drummer - drops his sticks a couple of times, made up some vocals on the spot as his monitor wasn't working properly. Also, the crowd couldn't see him properly and he's our main singer Bottom left - synth / singer - couldn't hear herself sing and couldn't hear her synth Bottom right - guitarist - brought the wrong guitar, and forgot his strap It's all just a laugh

damagedinc I loved that vid btw man. Tell me more about the story of the band! I need to know! How long did you go for, why did it end? Haha. So the lead singer I've known since I was five. Great metal voice but terrible "singing" despite his best efforts. Drummer I've been in bands with since I started the guitar. He's now the drummer for Anti nowhere league. We were part of a hand full of "metal" bands that did quite well in our area. This video is from one of our first gigs. We changed quite a bit since this got tighter and songs were better. We recorded an EP which for the life of me can't find a copy of at the moment. Then I got a job which Limited gigs I could do and our drummer left to join a local band called ugly love and then got into anti nowhere league. Singer tried to get a new drummer/guitarist but it fell away as is often the case.

Yeah a familiar tale. I hate it when bands eventually just can't sustain themselves.
On a side note, I totted it up there just now. I've been in 16 bands. You think I would take the hint by this point...?

That's brilliant man You ever gig down south? Would defo come and watch. We're based near Manchester so mainly do around here. However, we have got a gig in November at the Golden Sun in Todmorden, not far from Hebden bridge, which is apparently a great venue to play at, supporting the San Pedro Collective again (that's the earliest they could get a gig there for!) So basically, if it's workable, we'll do anywhere within reason

Haha no, it's more a *slight* illustration that we don't just play in Manchester It's all down to who we can connect with - the synth player does all the connections and networking, so we'll just wait and see what she finds. We're always on the lookout for venues though, or events that we can somehow shoehorn into.

Saying all that, I've just checked my phone and another band want us to suppport them in 2 weeks time. Back in Manchester again, at the venue below the one we just played! Called Peer Hat. The band is called Peacock Method and they heard us play and want us back! It's a 30 minute slot.
30 minute slots are weird though. The last one literally felt like we were playing for about 10 minutes, and we have to choose bangers for the set, and it's bloody knackering doing one banger after another.
Still, that's rock and roll I guess

If I posted another one of my tracks up would anyone mind giving me some feedback?
Don't worry, I'm NOT fishing for compliments. I genuinely would like to know thoughts on the mix so far and I totally don't mind if you all hate it, but just so I know if I need to add / reduce bass / guitars / vox etc etc etc
Because this is my solo stuff and I can't rely on my own ears any more. I don't want to ask my mate because we're working on other stuff and I'm doing this a bit on the QT so as not to cause him any offence (I know that he wouldn't even give a shit but I would always rather be cautious). None of my other mates do music stuff so I would rather ask you.
