elstoof nice. I really like the Katana, so will be interested to hear what you think. I've been looking at the Waza versions of some pedals, too. The DS-1W looks cool. Oh, and I've tuned one of my guitars to Eb. It sounds great with a capo on the 2nd fret. Now I just need a 70s Les Paul with P90s. 😁

I’ve got the waza blues driver, not sure I’d ever tell the difference between the regular non waza tbh. Check your relief doesn’t disappear if you’ve tune down to Eb, might need to slacken off the truss nut a quarter turn if you suddenly find strings buzzing that didn’t buzz before

The string tension seemed to be ok, too, but I'll keep an eye on it.

So I've been playing this electric drum kit that I erm, stole from my boy a few weeks ago (I say stole, he let me have it as he bounced right off it and doesn't like playing - it's not a high end one, a g4m DDrum 400, but surprisingly decent). All I can say is... I wish I'd started on the drums years ago. Bloody hell it's good fun. Just drumming along to stuff I've done in Reaper but putting them through EZDrummer means I can make the kit sound fucking amazing and tweak it endlessly. The only trouble is I get really bad hand cramp holding the sticks. It's just shitty wooden ones, and I'm wondering if a different stick would help at this stage. I'm not gripping them too tight, but I think because they eventually slip I end up then gripping tighter to make sure they don't, and that's when it starts. Only in my right hand, which is weird. Obvs technique isn't quite right yet either mind you.

First fuck about with the wazas last night and they seem good, can get some good sounds out of it. The Mustang never sounded quite right, not sure if that was down to the headphones or what though, was using the wife’s Sony WH1000 or whatever they’re called and it wasn’t good enough to inspire me to use it regularly. Curiously sounded better with some iPhone earbuds, I guess the benefit of the wazas is they can tune the sound processing to a known speaker. Anyway, so much nicer playing amplified in the evening instead of unplugged, probably quieter too seeing as I’m not attacking the strings as much

Obvs technique isn't quite right yet either mind you. I remember (ice ages ago) when I had drum lessons, and the guy told me to keep both hands relaxed and notice when you tense them and then relax them again. Easier said than done I know. You know when you dig in on the bass to get a bit more emphasis? As opposed to just playing lightly when you just want the groove? It feels kinda like that to me. Do you play open or closed / left handed or right handed?

Yeah I must be tensing more than I realise!
Erm. I don't know what you mean by the last part because I just hit the things to make a sound. I presume I would be right handed but how can I tell?

If you play the hihat with your left stick and the snare with your right hand (so both arms are effectively 'open'), that's normally left handed. If you play the hihat with your right hand crossed over and your left hand playing the snare underneath your right arm, that's closed and generally right handed
Think that's it anyway
I play open

Ahhhh. Right. Makes sense. Closed. Right hand on the hi-hat, left on the snare.
Just felt more natural.

Yup, that's because you're a weird right hander

Halloween gig went well - had a load of people dancing which was good. And everybody was pretty leathered too and had a good night. I am now fucking knackered!

I made a amp and a friend of mine made a cab for it from pau ferro somethings not right with the amp though, I think it’s a faulty coupling capacitor. I don’t have an equivalent on hand to swap it, going to have to wait until the new year before that gets delivered and I can fix the problem

I’ve never felt so unsettled listening to a Christmas song before. It’s a thumbs up from me. Delightfully odd.

Good stuff man! Did you do the bass too? Sounds like a picked bassline on really bright strings? Can hear it on the breakdown about half way through We've made a few more too as we've not been practicing for a gig yet. We haven't got a name for this one yet, so it's just called egyptian space rock for now, because I thought the guitar riff was a bit eastern, but whatever drive.google.com/file/d/1qhK1IBcAH0W37aTYcABGBxBm4Tn-OycY/view?usp=sharing

I did indeed sir yes. Because I was cleaning all my shit and literally sobbing at how I don't use any of it any more. I thought "fuck it" and just sat and made something. That's the Sandberg, although I can't remember what strings are on it. It's through about fifty VST's mind... Everything is tuned half a step down as well, which I quite like.
I do like a bit of Egyptian space rock so I'll have a listen after work!

Ah cool. I remember the Sandberg, good stuff. Ah yeah, I didn't think about the vst's as well.
I know what you mean about kit though - it's difficult to keep going sometimes. The band always pushes me though, but I really do need to sit down and noodle about with some other non-band stuff now and again. I don't even know why I don't do it more often - I always enjoy it when I do.
That version of the song I just uploaded sounds a bit naff, but it gets the gist across

Sorry, I missed that you used the term first. Nevertheless, Louis Balfour stands! 😁 (will give the songs a listen tomorrow)
