You can get a Gibson second hand for that.
And if I'm going to buy a copy, it might as well be an Epiphone for half that.

If you shop around you're nearer £1K for a high end Tokai or Edwards with nitro paint, top hardware etc. Don't get me wrong if you've got the budget get the Gibson, but a Chinese epiphone is nowhere near a Japanese Tokai or Edwards. Every high end Japanese guitar I've ever played had been the match of the USA ones. Gibson even built models over there in the 90's (check out Orville by Gibson guitars) using the Fujigen factory (Fender and Tokai). Also Fender Japan guitars are the equal of Fender USA too. much better than the Chinese, Indonesian, Korean and Mexican stuff.

I know the history. And I don't want an Edwards or a Tokai.
What's the point in having a dream and trying to realise it with something that isn't it? None. It's like saying an MX-5 is still a sports car to someone who wants a 911 Turbo S.
It's not just about having *any* guitar for the sake of it.

I have had the pleasure of owning well over 50 guitars over the years from £5K down to around £300. Only trying to help :-) I'd have a go at typing a list but I wouldn't want to bore everyone :-)

So, in an effort to get myself to a band playing shape I've been doing the Yousician app course for half an hour every day. Now I know they can't know that I'm playing on a franken-U-bass but I've just come to the module on hammer-ons. Here's an example (not me playing, I'd be too embarrassed):
It's not that hard but on an upright u-bass, yeah, it's fun!

I've had another crack at some ambient stuff again with the synths. I'm getting a slight system shock 2 vibe on the arpeggio, and that cascading noise intermittently is fucking great - totally stumbled onto it by just pissing about on a separate synth Trouble is, if I change any of the knobs, I'll lose it forever unless I work out how the fuck I got it in the first place! Least it's recorded though drive.google.com/file/d/1W7qJksAyTy9SzeachzavipbDfnk3acny/view?usp=drivesdk

I could probably get some nice bass and some shaky drums on the moogs. I'll give it a go. That's a nice track you've posted

Hah, I found an online shop in Canada that sells different type of metal decal stickers. They do a Fender one. And I drive a Honda Jazz. It's going on just above the word Jazz I'll take a photo

I just restrung my two regular play guitars in about 15 minutes. Why did I never have a string winder before? Also, I really need to change the strings more regularly.

You're making me debate again whether to restring my bass. I know I should, but I've got used to it now. Dunno!

I’m not too keen on the new string feeling, leave mine on for ages 100% But they were beyond the point where it was still reasonable to play them and I do not need help to sound worse 😁

I'm in the camp of "flat wounds and never re-string".

Well, I've finally pulled the trigger on a Prophet synthesizer. I've been after one for years but never had the opportunity. It's taken a few extra years to get all the right research done as there's so many different versions, but I've gone for it now. Excited! Except I will have to fucking re-arrange the room yet again, but it's a nice problem to have. You'd like this one Wunty - while it still has a lot of knobs, they're quite reknown for immediacy to get some cool sounds out of it straight away without pissing about too much Meanwhile, I should be practicing bass for this gig on the 24th, but sod it, it can wait a day or two!

Did our 3rd gig last night in a different town with a sound engineer and a lighting engineer. Made all the difference and it was a great night! photos.app.goo.gl/QYvbCaN6ZcYWcRDR7

Yeah, it's really good. Stone walls all around, great acoustics. Sound engineer did a cracking job too. Bar upstairs, can fit around 100 in (we got about 63 through the door). Really good place for a gig

Yeah, some new faces too. The marketing is definitely working! Got another one in 4 weeks for halloween too. Fucks sake. I need to quit my job! We even got some money for this one. Er, which is enough to pay for the T shirts and fix the bust PA speaker
