Just messing about with some funk basslines, and I came across funklet.com. It's amazing. It has a big list of drum beats from past funk classics that you can totally tailor and edit on the fly. Really useful for practicing.
I, er, may have accidentally bought another synth as well.

I can't. I really can't.
I think I've worked out why my funk bass isn't working in the band. It's because we're not a fucking funk band. So every time I attempt it, it just doesn't work with the drummer, guitarist or synth player. Furthest I can get is something approaching talking heads type of funk, but even that I can only do the 1 song.
I need to join a funk band!

Haven't got time for two bands. I'll have to just piss about at home. Or find a funky drummer (yeah, that'll be easy) that doesn't mind coming to tbe studio when the main band aren't in.
I've signed up for a funk bass course though, so I'll do that, and if it's good, I should be able to bring some of it to the main band as an experiment

Spent all last couple of weeks mixing all 19 tracks of this fucking album. Nearly there! Just need to do the bloody artwork now.
Meantime I'm taking the boys electric drum kit upstairs. I've done my own wee punk cover and I'm going to try doing the drums manually. With an actual kit. I'm sure this will go well...
