dogbot and at £1500 that's more than double my most expensive instrument. Then again if I stopped spunking all my money on PS games I'll never get around to playing I could probably afford something better.... And you're actually doing stuff with yours. In fairness, I've had that guitar for nearly 25 years now and it's definitely the one I have played most in that time, so it's actually money well spent. I feel like I'm starting to do it a bit more justice now. I'm a long way from being able to justify spending the sort of money I'd like to on a guitar, though. I probably have enough now. For now. But if toof (and Quaddy and anyone else) can get their instruments, that'll make me happy, too.

Yeah, that's getting into pretty serious purchase business. Although I'm not sure if a custom shop 355 is going to be much less. I've seen second hand ones for 4k. I'm not good enough to spend that on an instrument. I've got a £1500 Takamine electro acoustic and that feels profligate 😁 Yes I know, I know. But it's a moog one, savvy? images.app.goo.gl/WyENu7SxEYWA6Vnf8Yeah, it's a nice bit of kit. I haven't the first idea of how to use something like that, but they look and sound great.

Nope, it’s not… and I’m definitely not good enough either but sod it, I’ve wanted one ever since I was a boy sat watching Bernard Butler. I’ll absolutely be spending the next 18 months practicing like a monk so I’m sure to have a few more chops come collection day Yeah, totally understand. If you want it and it's in reach, why on earth not? And if it spurs you on to get better too, absolutely winning.

When you play it and hear it, all the fear disappears

Yeah, it's a nice bit of kit. I haven't the first idea of how to use something like that, but they look and sound great. It's so easy, that's the beauty with moogs. They're laid out so you start on the left to make a sound, then you adjust it by going right (you're doing the filters, envelopes, blah blah at this point) and then when you're happy, you just play it. That's it! It's the most blissful thing in the world and it's full of happy accidents

Amazing that they couldn’t give these away originally One imagines that in 1958, they were pretty out there. I suspect not many pros looked at the Explorer and thought "that's the guitar for me" back then. The same store has a '58 Gold Top. $80k. I guess not as rare.

The goldtop’s a refin with a neck repair. By late 50s the LP wasn’t selling either, that’s why the 58-60 ‘Bursts are so expensive now

I can't keep up with it all tbh! I'm just going to concentrate on the bass. One more practice tomorrow and then we're done. We could play it tonight if we needed to though - we're all comfortable with the tracks now. 16 of the fuckers! with a break in the middle at least

Not like that 1960 cupboard find in the UK a couple weeks ago. Sold for £150k. Apparently the lady thought it was worth 5k and wanted a professional opinion. Luckily for her, she took it to an honest expert. Good work, quaddy. As always. 😎

16! Bloody hell you've been busy. How long a set does that work out at? We had to leave some out! Had a few heated chats about some that didn't make it, and some that did. Most are average length, around 4-6 minutes, but there's a few short and a few longer ones. With, say, 10-15 seconds tuning time / synth patch selection between each song, I'd say the first 8 should take around 50 minutes, and potentially the same for the second set, though that might be a tad longer, Space Opera being 6:48 for example. So maybe about 2 hours, or just under. The last time we played, it went much quicker, and some of the bpm's on some of the tracks were slightly quicker because of adrenaline - probably be the same this time round I guess. Depends how stoked the drummer is

Ha yeah, depends on that. We used to blast through our stuff double time and wonder why we came in about 10 minutes under time. Too carried away. one gig our drummer went so fast that by the last song I felt like it would never end as he was about to collapse (due to knackering himself). An absolute carcrash of a gig.
Ahhh. Good times.
Fucking awesome though man, it'll be fucking superb I'm sure. Wish I was closer, I'd go along and have a few beers.

Last time, the drummer changed some of the main vocals live - confused the fuck out the guitarist But the drummer can ad-lib anything on the fly. I'm still very impressed that one of our songs, "Sway", he's managed to get the line, "Sometimes I just wanna kick fuck out a bin". I was talking to him on a cig break at one practice and I mentioned this meme - Ghandi
So pleased he managed to get it in Haha, yeah, our drummer goes mad - sometimes I just have to leave him to it!

Cheers! Getting excited now. The red curtains I asked if we could borrow for the gig. They're actually used elsewhere in the pub, but they match our twin peak vibe just nicely
