I try and put them away neatly but half the time I end up just tripping or running my chair over them. This is where I am - and I only have two cables, but they're already annoying me. I might get some sticky hooks for my desk.

My trouble is I'm too lazy, so after I've done some singing / guitaring, instead of putting the cables nicely away, I just leave them plugged in and sprawled across the floor.

I've got a headphone amp (Fender Mustang Micro) that plugs into the guitar/bass jack, so the only cable is from the guitar to the headphones. Highly recommended for practice. Although you've just bought a new amp haven't you

I have looked at that with the idea that I can play the electrics downstairs at some point, but for the moment, I'm pretty tied to my amp and all of its funky chorus/delay/reverb and DISTORTIONs

You could always go wireless True. Although, I think if I spend any more money on this hobby any time soon, there'll be a stabbing in my future.

There’s those curly cables like old telephone cords that’ll spring back

You've gotta get your over/under coiling game right, I actually learned it from a pro-dep that playee with my old band once or twice, it makes your cables 'learn' how to coil properly and makes them last.
Curly cables can sap treble, higher or lower capacitance (I forget which) because of the length

So what does everyone do about cables? They're starting to take over... Also, I bought some red Sharkfin picks. Like when I was 13. The only way I can sort the cables is to run all the kit against a wall in an L shape - that way the majority of stuff is behind everything and out the way. Though it is a *ballache* when re-cabling stuff if I move it around. The cabling and room setup takes just as much time as playing the damn things! The main issue is that 5 of the instruments that I use all have stereo outputs, so that's 10 TS leads straight away. Then there's the link cables between the audio interface and adat converter unit. Then bloody power for everything. And then all the lamps so I can see everything. I daren't look at how much plugs and audio sockets I'm using. This doesn't even count guitars or basses - they're additional too. And for the small 3.5mm patch leads for the semi modular synths, I got a little rack that you can attach to the moogs which you can hang around 50 or so little patch leads in, otherwise they'd be all over the desk. Which they end up anyway when trying to create new stuff. It seems we'll never be fully rid of wires

Got my strat pickguard loaded up Comes out a lot cleaner looking in photos than it does in person, although it’s not really a heavy aging job. Screw heads had a little dunk in ferric chloride to take the newness off

Surely that should have gone for auction? Guarantee it'd fetch more than that.

Got a Bigsby reproduction pickup on order from Mojo pickups at the moment funnily enough, fancy making an “inspired by” version of his original Merle Travis guitar

Viola’s going well at this end. Mrs. EMarkM gifted me an hour with the little ‘un’s strings teacher yesterday, which resulted in tonnes of great advice regarding the subtle differences from violin.

Got another gig lined up. Playing at the same place again. No date set yet as we're working out which songs are going to make the set list, but have something to aim for again. Might even get some released this time

Nice one! Yeah it'll be a month or so yet I'd say. The pub is called the Harewood Arms in Broadbottom if you want to Google it
