Talking of buying things, let's have an update on this too please Dammit. Finances can probably handle it. Can I even find the room for it? Enjoyed both of these!

Spent the day testing and checking the amp circuits trying to find the grounding hum, turns out it was basically just regular tube amp noise made worse by running off a would up extension cable in the workshop (shared mains/lighting ring), went down to the lounge and it’s golden. Learned a shitload about amp circuits while chasing shadows so wasn’t a total waste of a day

Lets all live together. Elstoof can build us stuff, quaddy can do all the knob stuff and the rest of us can hammer the skirting boards in. It'd be a fucking cool band

Does this work? If so, new viola, with banjo, bass and lead guitars lurking in the background somewhere:- Viola

Didn't realise the bows were that big for a viola. Looks lovely though

Can only see the viola though, no other instruments The blue thingy behind the viola is the banjo case, and several other things lurk behind; one of the Aria basses and the Gibson SG. Everything else is scattered about the house in various rooms! But, yes, you can’t really see any of that in the pic, it turns out

I do like the sound of a viola. My dad, who was an orchestral violinist, tried to teach me the violin when I was younger. Didn't work out because of the whole parent child dynamic being stronger than the teacher / student dynamic, but I wish I'd kept at it.

Don't tempt me. I'm still trying to get back into this saxophone, and my boy got an electric drumkit for Christmas that I seem to be hijacking reguarly. Not enough hours in the day! I could do with cutting down on playing video games mind you.

@wuntyate Sax would be my NEXT instrument!
It is always a question of finding time. My guitars, basses, banjos, etc. etc. etc. have sat largely untouched for quite some time, but the little 'un starting cello in July has helped focus us (mainly her mum!) on how useful me going back to strings would be.

I've made a pact with myself to get back to playing it every day. I was doing well. Managed to get up to learning the theme from Men Behaving Badly, which was great fun to play along with the Red Dwarf theme. Then I hit the end of the book and kind of... Stopped.

Ok, what's going on here-
I've got some moog synths that output via 1 ts lead into a delay/reverb pedal, which has stereo out into my audio interface.
When you turn it all on, the moogs will work fine but when I activate the delay or the reverb on the pedal, it kills the signal.
What I have to do is pull the power lead out of the pedal while the moogs are playing and plug it back in, then activate delay and/reverb. Sometimes it works after one power reset, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 attempts.
Anyone else come across that kind of cutoff problem?

I was watching a video the other day of a guy demoing a synth I have using a drum machine pedal which has midi sync (https://youtu.be/cuJSqbNbthI?t=1595). Since I am a one man band at home, I got one and I've just realised I can sync pretty much any instrument at all as long as it has midi!
Just in case the band falls apart, you know...

Making the room for it will be fun. It needs to be 4 feet away from a) anything metal, or b) any movement. I can see some drunken accidents happening here, for sure.

At least I remembered to read the manual before buying it, so I knew which bloody microphone adapter stand I'd need. Sly fuckers aren't they.

Only times I’ve mucked about with them, they’ve been set up by someone else, so I haven’t much info to add! They are extremely good fun, though. Excellent stuff.

Yeah, looking forward to it. Had my eye on one for ages. Just went with the moog theremini - I'll need the pitch correction to start with, and it also has 32 presets, plus a built in stereo delay.
The problem with this though, is that I have fuck all inputs left in my audio interface! Something is going to have to come out I think.

Haha you massive buffoon Though saying that, I did look at a 18 input jobbie earlier by behringer which is £200. I'd prefer focusrite, but that's 500 quid. However, I have a solution I think. I could cable the deepmind to just be mono and that frees up an input for the stereo theremin leads. It means that the moogs (that have a stereo reverb and delay) will stay intact, the matriarch (which has a stereo delay) stays intact, the theremin can nick the deepmind leads (because its got a fucking stereo delay!) And then the deepmind can go mono, fuck it. It has a delay but I don't really use it for that. The beat buddy pedal can chain onto anything and that leaves exactly 1 input left which the mono bass station can use. Fucking hell! Just managed it.
