Don't forget in botw there were different types of arrows, whereas in totk fusion made that redundant.

That’s a good point, but yeah every enemy camp seems to have between 2 and 10 arrows, so it’s hard to not increase your total number the longer you play. At one point I thought I was hovering around the 200 mark, but I guess I stopped paying attention to the number at some point.
I’ve also been sitting on hundreds of unused monster parts. Sold half of a ton of them and made nearly 20,000 rupees. I did make sure I had enough of certain ones to upgrade gear, but you don’t really need to upgrade all the gear.

I’ve been using arrows very freely these past couple of days so I thought I’d check how many I had left, in case I needed to buy more. 878. This game really gives them away, doesn’t it? I found myself having to go and buy arrows from a shop the other day, and I'm about 50 hours in... I think my problem is that I'm chicken shit, and I'll often stand up on high ground hurling bomb (or other) arrows at camps for far too long. Have you found some decent arrow farming trick or are all yours literally just from boxes and chests??

It’s almost entirely all from boxes and enemies. I used to buy them if I dipped under a hundred, but I haven’t done that in a long time.
I will use arrows in enemy camps to clear archers or flying enemies (fused with Keese eyes), but otherwise I mostly use my regular weapons. Most archers seem to drop 5x arrows when they die, so a headshot with a strong bow means you gain 4 arrows for every kill. Boxes are often 1, but can be 5x or 10x arrows. I used to drop and smash those to save my weapons, but now I just smash them with hammer-based weapons to save time.
Occasionally I’ll use a Muddle Bud or Dazzle Fruit to cause some chaos, and even fire and ice fruit for elemental types, but I still seem to collect far more than I use.
Do you have the spirit from the Fire Temple, because that will save you a lot of bomb arrows when exploring caves.

You’re probably playing exactly the same as I. I think it just comes down to how often you fight. Once you are fusing silver bokoblin horns with stuff, it becomes a lot easier to smack everything and collect tons of extra items.

Yep playing in a similar way, I feel it's a combination of using too many arrows to range attack camps and then probably not properly sweeping empty camps for boxes and dropped arrows... I need to fine tune my tactics! I also completely forget about spirits, I explore without them and rarely remember to turn them on when they'd actually be useful.

Ha. I turned them all off for the first time today after having a nightmare fight against a Phantom Ganon in a tight corridor. I couldn’t see a damn thing.

I think those of us who played BotW have got into the habit of taking every possible opportunity to buy or collect arrows, because they were more scarce in that. I too have more arrows than I could ever use.

I get up to 400 or so arrows by doing a little fast travel route to all the shops with a couple trips to man like Beedle too. Tarrie Town alone will net 35 if you break some crates.
Then my kids play for a few hours, straight back to zero arrows, meals, cooking items ready for me to go on another shopping spree once they're in bed. What a life.

Has anyone been crazy enough to watch back their entire Hero’s Path log, or will I be the first? I know the first game only logged the last 100 hours, but this one does 300 hours, so there’s a good chance it could capture my entire run through the game!

Once you are fusing silver bokoblin horns with stuff, it becomes a lot easier to smack everything and collect tons of extra items. This maybe why I used so many arrows - I wasn't fusing much except rocks until the very end when I fused some high level stuff and had a stack of great weapons. Still, I always end up using one of the worst I'm holding 'just in case', which is utterly stupid given I've finished the game.

That’s exactly how I started playing, but once I stopped caring about things breaking I became overwhelmed with decent weapons and materials. The better the material you fuse, they either last longer, do more damage, or both! If you just get stuck in with fusing you end up with even more materials in your pocket and you find you have to leave behind most weapons you find, because your weapons go much further.
Honestly, using fusion has been a game changer for me. I don’t even fuse stones anymore. The horroblin horns you find in caves (the ones that look like hammers) are far more durable, stronger and last longer. Silver Moblin horns are perfect on swords. The elemental horns of Lizalfos are perfect for elemental weaknesses (if you want to save your ores). I save the boss Moblin horns for spears, which can do a lot of damage quicker, so those are perfect for bigger enemies that can be stunned, like Lynels, Modulgas, Talos, etc…
Also, even shield fusing is amazing. A mirror during the day blinds you enemies and makes them drop their gear to cover their eyes. A fan on a frozen enemy sends them flying away. A mushroom springs knocks them back after an attack. I’m at this point where I’m just toying with almost anything I fight with.
Fusion is easily the most underrated power. It’s easy enough to ignore or use sparingly, but if you go nuts with it you get even more back.

I mean that’s just how you’re supposed to play the game.

Haha. True, but even I suffer from hoarding tendencies. Most RPGs I won’t use any items in case I need every single one for the final boss.

I mean that’s just how you’re supposed to play the game. I think it's balanced so well you can play it anyway you like. Two players who put 100 hours in will have done very different stuff.

I get that, but Fuse has clearly been designed to be an incredibly important game mechanic, and the way described was a description of exactly how it was intended to be used.

One tip for Fuse btw, for those that aren't aware - that material that's fused never breaks as far as I know. So if your fused weapon is about to break, you can take it to Tarrey Town to un-fuse it and use the material on another weapon. It's a bit cumbersome but allows you to re-use the powerful rare materials you get from bosses, for example.

Indeed, but I think it can be easily overlooked if you don’t spend the opening hours using it, which is very possible given how much is thrown at you at the beginning of the game. Edit - Basically, if you play like me and you’re a bit dumb you may overlook the obvious and completely neglect it for longer than it takes to complete most games. Haha

While we’re on the topic of Fusing, has anybody fused anything with over 100 attack power? My record is 96, with a Silver Lizalfos horn and a Scimitar of the Seven.

What point did you guys stop playing this lol. I'm at 100 hours and not really done any of the depths or sky stuff. If I was to guess I am 50% to 75% of my way through the story.
As much as I am enjoying it, this is rinsing all my game time. Haven't touched anything since lol.
Wondering when to call it quits. Worried if I put it down and take a break I'll never get back to it.

200 hours as of this evening! Still only on 3 temples, but I’m in no rush. It’s now my secondary game between anything else I can squeeze in, but I am not worried if I drop it before I complete it. I know I’ll return to it at some point down the line.

I got distracted on the way to my final temple (Zora); I actually think the Switch controller was contributing to the pain I’ve mentioned in the health issues thread 😂. When it’s subsided I will probably continue.

I'd ignore Depths and sky and plough on - you must have a fair few shrines & hearts after that many hours. I thought the end was well worth it.

I have the travel medallion upgrade now so I'll stick one there, that'll make the process much quicker

170 hours in with the last temple to go (just started it) and one tower to unlock - haven't played anything else bar the odd bit of Street Fighter and D4 if friends are online.
Not touching Starfield until it's finished!

There's a really nice bow at the top of hyrule castle that I've placed a travel medallion next to. Any time there's a blood moon I just do a quick trip there now.

I went to the castle fairly early on for a bit of an explore, found some great weapons, then didn't want to use them so hoarded them till I got a house with weapon storage worried I would need them later.

Well, this one isn't in a chest, but I think most overworld chests respawn, as long as it's not part of a quest.

Will have to check that out, as that could be very handy.
Not sure how many hours in we are now, must be over 100 though. 4 temples in, all towers, lots of shrines, full stamina, second row of hearts started and STILL finding new things to do, and a lot of the depths to map.
We're holding off the main story as long as possible now and still finding fun side quests, I really don't want it to end.

I had considered leaving the Depths until late one, but when you start finding treasure it becomes much more compelling. I already have gear that will help with the ending (apparently) and my battery is now big enough that most basic vehicles die before my battery has a chance to drain.
