I won’t spoil it, but I’ve just discovered the maximum number of Korok Seeds needed to fully upgrade your equipment and I have far exceed that number. Maybe I should focus on getting another temple done and some quests now…

I finally took down my first Gleeok! It was the Ice one, which has an obvious solution for the final stages of the fight. I’ve no idea what I am gonna have to do with the other elemental types.

Even in the first one you only needed like half of the 900 for equipment slots, the rest were just for the golden shit

And I am mental too. Nearly 500 now. Still have 5 towers to find, so I reckon I might be on for around 750 - 800 if I keep playing like this

Considering I'm not even sure if I've found 400 across both games, I'd say I agree with your point! My OCD tendencies aren't even close to strong enough to make me get them all (450 still less than 900 though, that's just math )

Korok seeds were more fun to find in BotW as they were more evenly spaced out over the map. You could always spot one from almost any point on the map. In this one they’re closer to roads and towns, probably because few folk ever bother with them, so you can be in the middle of nowhere and there’s nothing going on for a mile.

I can't work out how people find so many... I'm all 4 dungeons down, all tear memories found and lots of side quests done and I've only got 40 fookin koroks! It's not like I ignore them when they need help, and I'll go for any puzzles and turn rocks that seem obvious. Maybe I need to highten my korok senses more. Do you korok fiends do whole play sessions just looking for them?

I have! I tend to plot a route to somewhere and then explore that route thoroughly. On those occasions I’ll probably play exclusively on foot and if I have any vantage points I’ll mark places of interest and follow up on them.
Mostly I am looking for caves, wells, and such, and those tend to lead to or have Korok seeds nearby.

Do you korok fiends do whole play sessions just looking for them? It's kind of like the environmental puzzles in The Witness, the more you solve the more you start to notice them as you walk around. Hollow tree trunks, circles of flowers in ponds, looking under bridges just because, random yellow flowers in slightly conspicuous spots, "Oh this random tree stump looks out of place" and it spawns a Korok challenge...

Euch. The final section of this is really quite disappointing. Admittedly it is somewhat traditional for Zelda games to have a bunch of irritatingly difficult filler right at the end but it still isn’t something I welcome.

I actually binned it at that point, it's absolutely awful to play.

Ok so I think I might actually be fucked. End of game spoilers: I’ve managed to get to the final fight with Ganon. I’ve plonked down a travel point thingy, but it’s saying I can’t travel anywhere. I can’t seem to get to anywhere I can travel from. So I have to somehow do the final fight with literally one heart available as the rest are gloomed out from the waves of enemies I’ve just got through. So as far as I can tell there’s literally nothing I can do and it’s basically game over after 100 odd hours.

If you have any portable pots and Sundelions available you can cook Gloom restoring meals on the spot Alternatively, considering that IIRC you shouldn't be able to save after a certain point, a quit-reload might put you back to a spot where you can warp out. It does suck that you'll have to redo some things, but a lot of it is skippable (and I think the point of no return is after the big War in the Depths sequence, so you might not have to redo that either) and it's better than just binning it IMO

Yikes. No older saves to go back to? Doesn't it keep more than one autosave?

I’m all out of Sundelions sadly. Hence why I need to travel back to the surface.
Honestly to put a point of no return with no warning after several waves of fights is really shitty game design.
But yeah good idea on that. I’ll try when I feel less hateful of the thing.

At the risk of sounding a bit holier-than-thou (not my intention) I'd say having something to heal Gloom is within reasonable expectations for the player to do, considering you're heading to essentially the Gloom's origin point, i.e the point of no return isn't shitty by itself on the developers' part.
The lack of warning definitely is though. If the lockout starts where I think it does you do get a "You can't use the Sages' powers anymore" as a bit of an "Oh crap", but it's not much (and it might come at a spot where you can't go back without teleporting anyway)

I read a couple of warnings about the end, so went around and upgraded the deity armour to the level before max and made a shitload of gloom food before starting it. Probably would've abandoned the game if I hadn't done that prep.

I've done the four temples and have been putting off going to Hyrule Castle. Guess I'll need to stock up on gloom meals and portable pots beforehand then...
