Oh my god the lynels in the depths are something else. The colosseum ones, I genuinely have no idea how I managed to beat all of them first time.

Yeah, I cooked a shitload of gloom food. Currently have 0 bombs though, so I might have to head back and farm those for a bit. Is midnas helm worth equipping or just focus on getting a set upgraded? You probably don’t need the bombs it’s just good to have some high damage arrows if you want to blast through one of the phases. Once you get flurry dodge timing down its not that bad melee wise Armour wise not essential just have a reasonable defence rating

I'm going to max out the deity armour and become a murder machine.

That was my plan too, but I'm not sure I can be bothered grinding 6 lynel guts to upgrade everything if I haven't even had a single drop so far.

Just think, if only you had max deity armour then you could murder those lynel to get their guts so easily.

It feels almost ironic (but I'm not sure why) that the most on foot traversing I've had to do is in the depths.

Ironically, I think the depths is where I've done the most traversing by air. I got into a bit of a loop of spotting a distant lightroot, finding one of those equipment depots, and throwing together a rocket-launch-assisted fanplane. Whack a brightbloom seed on the front (being careful to remember that this'll set off the rockets...), and hope I get there before the plane disappears or I whack into a plant.

I'm probably very late to this, but just discovered a subreddit called Hyrule Engineering and some of the creations on there are absolutely insane. Makes me think I should try and be more inventive than just sticking some fans and a steering stick on a plank of wood and marvelling at it taking flight.

It's very ingenious, but does require you scale all the way up there first though

Where's a good source of zonaite rockets? I've got hundreds of devices from the dispensers but rockets seems to be one of the devices I have the least of in my inventory.

I'm another one often in short supply of rockets - and the few times I have used them like that, I've come up a tad short of the destination.

Just got to the temple in the Gerudo region, and the framerate is atrocious. All of the temples have been bad but this one seems the worst. I know they wanted to stick rigidly to the open world concept, but at times the Switch really can't handle it and I wouldn't have minded if the main dungeons were in their own areas behind a loading screen.
It's a shame as the game is otherwise an absolute masterpiece.

I found the same at the gerudo temple, but as soon as I got inside it was fine. I don't think they intended you to be outside at the beginning for long but I ended up climbing all the way to the top ('cause I'm a dummy) and it was almost a slideshow up there because of the storm. I think once the storm has gone it's fine again.

Heh, I climbed all the way to the top too as I couldn't find the entrance, and it really is a slideshow up there. Makes sense if you're not supposed to be there! The inside of the temple is much better, thankfully.

cubby gamingdave Try the dispensers in Tarrey Town (one of the best dispensers for mobility devices) or near Jinodok Shrine in the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago (smaller selection so better chance of rockets)

I am not even off the tutorial island and my head is spinning with the controls and number of things being thrown at me. It’s a lot to take on board and you appear to need to have 12 fingers.

I was gonna mention this and forgot, Youthist it definitely gets better. The tutorial island is good but quite a few of the new abilities don't really come into their own until you experiment with them yourself for a bit, plus there's also quite a few shrines past the tutorial island that show off some ideas and encourage you to try new things, or that can be solved with multiple abilities.

Yeah. You will likely forget a lot of what you’ve learned up top and either remember bits randomly or re-learn them on your journey.
For me it was remembering Zonaite and how that all worked, but honesty you won’t even need to worry about it for a long time.

Even at 80+ hours getting a battery upgrade was a confusing experience. They really could've done with streamlining that a bit, or at least allow you to buy the upgrades from any of the robot dudes.
Main thing to remember at the start is the ascend ability. When that becomes second nature you'll save yourself lots of head scratching later.

To be fair, the guys you get the battery upgrades from are both close to teleporters (a Shrine and the Lookout Tower, respectively) and IIRC also marked on the map. And getting the charges isn't too bad if you can reliably kill big things in the Depths (or visit the various Abandoned Mines, although you do need lots of Zonaite if you go with that) It's just another thing to check off every Blood Moon or so (I think the mines restock more frequently than that though)

I honestly must have been about 30 hours in or so before I remembered talking to a Construct in a refinery of some sort up in the initial sky island area, and deciding to head back to find out what all that was about... I do agree that a lot of that early stuff is easily forgotten once you get down from the sky, they probably could have done that better. And yet, just like BotW, these little niggles don't stop it from almost certainly being the greatest game of all time, imho of course. It is just a completely unbelievable experience yet again from Nintendo.

I would argue that BotW does the whole introduction much better, but that is because there is less to learn (or at least less is thrown at you).
Having said that, I only learned about whips as weapons through the Switch news feed last night. I am definitely making an electric whip when I get home from work tonight.

Speaking of things I didn’t know about, realise or figure out for myself; I’ve just realised you can use Ascend on Stone Talus that have platforms on their shoulders…
I don’t really struggle with them anymore, but it is obviously the fastest and most direct strategy. I’ve been making fires to glide upwards with and platforms to jump from.
I feel very stupid.

Haha, I love reading things like that and wondering why I never bloody thought of it.
I feel like I barely scratched the surface of discovering stuff that rewind would work on.

Speaking of stuff we never knew about... There's a shrine where you have to align a pair of moving clock hands to open the final door. With the way the shrine is structured the more obvious solution is to Recall one until it lines up with the other... Except nothing's stopping you from using Ultrahand to glue the hands together, which is much faster. I audibly facepalmed when I saw a video of that one, it never even crossed my mind at the time...

I finished the shrines yesterday and even by the end of them all wasn't bored with them. I hope they do some dlc with more. I've consistently played this since it came out and don't want it to end. There's some real magic in it.
