Did you take a photo of the map from the Temple in the canyon? I recall one being an arse to reach because I had tried to glide from a tower.

Decided to finish it.
All temples, all towers, all memories, 50 shrines (16 hearts and two stamina wheels) and three batteries.
Suitability epic ending with some nice touches after you think it’s over. Kinda want to do the ending again.
Final boss needs a bit of preparation, but not too bad provided you can flurry/dodge.
For all it’s little and not so little flaws, irritations and annoyances it was still magnificent.
Still so much to do, I could be pottering around in this for a long time but might take a break for now.

Decided to come back to it today after over a month off. Finished the lightning temple and the last couple of dragon tears (along with the inevitable getting massively sidetracked). Have to say I'm enjoying it a hell of a lot more now than I was when I abandoned it, and it's quite nice to play something that isn't Diablo 4 for a change!

Done the 4 regions, nearly sorted out the master sword (that was hard and not obvious!) I'm trying to find the last 3 geoglyphs without resorting to googling. They've bamboozled you Cubby/ned/dfunked

Got the master sword! And I got it moments after getting a very relevant geoglyph which was really cool. Done all the geoglyphs now.
Next task is figure out how to open the fairies.

There's usually a quest at the nearby stable for the great fairies IIRC. One of the first things I crossed off, but I haven't actually been back to upgrade my gear in yonks.
Must remember to do that tonight before getting sidetracked yet again...

I explored Mount Lanayru last night and found 2 huge caves that act as shortcuts through the overworld. It was pretty epic entering a cave in the snow, only to come out the other end in the jungle, behind a huge waterfall.
This game is full of surprises.

Must remember to do that tonight before getting sidetracked yet again... I've spoken to people at the nearby stables but I don't think I've ever generated a quest yet. They just talk about the fairy wanting to hear some specific instrument. I'm going to have to go looking around the stables again. I don't think I've found all of them yet either.

Ah, maybe there weren't individual quests for each, but yeah you should get enough info by either taking to the fairy or to people around the stable.
It might help if you do the one just to the northeast of lookout landing first. You'll unlock more people to talk to at stables the more of them you complete.

It's been a while since I unlocked the fairies but I'm not 100% sure it's the people at the stables that give you the quests (at least not for all of them), there's at least one I can think of where the person at the stable either only gives you a hint or gives you a "quest" that's basically just the hint, and the actual quest is given to you after you follow that. You do need to have started a different big questline (become a reporter for the Lucky Clover Gazette) before you can begin dealing with the fairies, though. The first step for the fairy questline (the one northeast of Lookout Landing) requires that and you can't do the rest before that I don't think.

You need to go to the stable near the Eldin region to kick them off at the other relevant stables.
The quests relevant to each region might be a region away or more at times.

That ones goes on a bit. Just wondering if I've done the one you're talking about yet, or if there are more caves there I've not found.

Finally found the relevant stable! Weirdly I've hardly touched that area.
Now to spam the fairies for upgraded armour.

Talking about not exploring areas, my boy is playing his own saved game separate from mine and he's done what I knew he'd do - fly through the main quest storyline without touching a single side quest. I don't think he's even spoken to anyone other than those critical to progressing the main quests! He also does the whole "can't be bothered to read" skip dialogue, which means he missed the bit about getting the Zora armour which is vital to that storyline - so I had to make him go and talk to the old blacksmith guy to get that going.
He's now at Hyrule Castle to fight Ganon having done the 4 dungeons, and he barely stepped foot anywhere south of the map apart from just the Gerudo area for that dungeon. Absolutely zero adventuring into the south/south-west because there was no need to (he never bothered talking to Robbie so has no idea or cared about going to get the Shrine Sensor etc.). He didn't care about getting all the towers, and the only time he ever been up to the sky islands is when he had to. He says when he completes it he'll go back and do side quests, geoglyphs etc. for fun, he did that with BotW but then we were fully in lockdown so plenty of time to kill. Let's see...
I love Nintendo's "you can go and fight Ganon straight away with a wooden stick if you like" attitude towards these games, it's amazing, but I do think with this game they should have pushed you more explicitiy towards exploring more of the world.

To be fair, when the game nudges you towards Rito Village first, it also indirectly nudges you towards the newspaper (Zelda appearances) and geoglyph (Memories) questlines, since both their beginnings are in that general direction and pretty close to the road Still, I guess watching all the ending scenes could be a good springboard to then do all the optional stuff to better understand what happened. And his reactions to (endgame events) Ganondorf gorging the Stone to turn into a dragon and Zelda being the Light Dragon with the Master Sword in her head should be quite interesting without the context Edit: although the final fight might be a bit of a bitch without the Master Sword. And he'll miss out on (ending) the post-credits scene with Mineru without the memories. Not to mention he might have to do more fighting if he hasn't done (lategame) a certain dungeon the Spirit Temple as well... (added some context to the spoilers)

Hmm I disagree with this - unlike in BotW, I don't think the game explicitly tells you that the final boss is already waiting for you in a certain location. And besides, the world in both games is expertly designed to try and distract you as much as possible and get you to explore off the beaten path, as well as trying to nudge you there with various side quests. It's actually a bit overwhelming in TotK so I can totally understand wanting to just do all the main story stuff and get it out of the way before exploring the rest of the world at leisure.

Destria I might be confusing them, but one is just before you hit the snow at Mt Lanayru. After passing through those ruins, from Kakariko Village. The other is at the far North of the Mountain by a main river. They’re both pretty lengthy caves. Fortunately, if you’re hunting Bubbel Gems and don’t fancy a lengthy walk through them, you don’t need to collect them all.

Spent ages last night feeding a dog to make it like me. It still won't follow me into a cave to show me the treasure chest. Greedy fucker

Four steaks should do it, if it's the quest I'm thinking of.

I had the same problem, I'm wondering if there's a bug there. I gave the dog loads of steak and nothing. The other dogs near stables are fine.

Yeah it might be a bug. I ended up just opening every chest in that cave until I got the right one.

We had to feed him what felt like an entire orchid (was probably about 10 apples) before he did his good dog routine.
Me and mrsgamingdave play it together, usually an hour each before handing over the controller. Think we must be about 50hrs in now, have done all but a couple of towers, 2 temples, probably about 50 shrines, a handful of light routes (maybe 10), and done a lot of side questing.
Still absolutely loving it.
The different ways everything can be approached is delightful and we are still finding suprises.

I'm two temples in now, definitely enjoying it, but already fed up with the guy putting up the wonky signs and the koroks that want to find their friends. Feel like I've done those activities too many times already

The koroks are definitely overdone, but there aren't enough sign guys in the game imo. Absolutely loved those mini puzzles!
I'm on my last temple now (water) and will probably just crack on with getting the master sword and finishing it this week.
