I think aside from the dock having an ethernet port, it should be exactly the same experience. The only major improvements are to handheld gameplay (not just with the screen, but also improved battery life). Fair do's. Cheers for the info

This video mostly highlights the desperate need for Switch to be replaced with something vaguely modern.

I personally dislike in-game player item/world creation due to the fact that… I’m not creative. Just like Lego… I’m gonna need instructions for this!
And yes I’m in the camp of waiting for Switch 2 if I’m going to put multiple hundreds of hrs into a game at low level performance. Getting old and patience (and a huge gaming backlog) I already have…

In botw was there a way to report your horse to you? My horse could never hear me and I'd always ditch him because he could navigate pebbles or one inch ledges. Going to stables and talking to the clerk you register them at would give you the option to drag them back there, then take them out of any stable as normal. For Assassin's Creed style teleporting horses you'd need a DLC item though. The Ancient Saddle added in Champions' Ballad teleports your horse to you if you whistle while it's out and about.

The 8k 60fps emulator mods look insane...
I love how these games look and feel, but I just couldn't get into BotW.

My other problem with some of the new abilities along with things like constructing items is that to me it takes you further away from the game environment itself. For example… nice mountain there and wouldn’t it be nice to get an epic sword through hard worn progressions but… who the hell cares I don’t need to traverse it anymore when I can just ascent magically through it… and the I’ll make myself a giant monkey hammer… you end up thinking your getting closer to another Minecraft…

I'm sure the game will be spectacular considering how good the last one was...but wasn't sold on all the Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts nonsense which they seem to be suggesting is an enormous part of the game.

Just watched and I thought it looked really great. I'm not normally massively creative with games that let you do your own thing, but the abilities here make it seem so easy to create what you want that I think even I will be able to make things.
Disappointing that a glance at the environment could make you think it is still BotW, but I don't think that tells us much about what is actually on the map. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think we saw anywhere or anything in this presentation that was the same as the old game, other than a few landscape features off in the distance. Perhaps they just intentionally hid that away or there is very little that is actually the same beyond some of the general landscape.
Do we even know when this is set? It could be another 1000 years after the last game and all the towns, communities and landmarks are very different. Or they could be pretty much the same and it is only the sky islands that are new. We don't really know at the moment. All we really know is that it is taking place in Hyrule again, like every other Zelda game.

I get the visuals comments but I don't really agree. I completed botw last week again and I think due to the brilliant art style and weather effects it is still a beautiful game that I frequently stopped to enjoy the view or take a screenshot.

It would still be those things while being more technically competent. Cleaner edges and more detailed textures, longer draw distances, more particle effects, etc.

It's almost closing time at the supermarket, shouldn't you be fighting the other weirdos for a 2p sausage roll.

I thought the Fuse mechanic in particular looked great. The weapon durability in BOTW was divisive, but it was obviously meant to encourage players to experiment with different weapons. Smashing any two weapons together is a great way of elaborating on that, and since it apparently extends the durability as well, it looks like a really neat way of achieving the same aim in a less frustrating way.

Yeah the fuse mechanic looks really good and will create some amazing weapon and object combos. Wasn't as keen on the travel through ceilings skill.

No, but it caters to the "you can't climb because it's raining" crowd. And it's fine - it'll speed up traversal and allow you to explore and play more. It seems they're keen to remove some friction from the base game, and they've done it creatively while keeping the core of the game intact.

Just give him a hookshot or something to climb faster the ability was just a bit odd.

Well, it still looked like it won't completely nullify climbing. It is only going to work if there is a cave to go into and I expect there will be plenty of places where you won't have that option.

I think the new mechanics look really interesting, especially Fuse, but I'm just hoping you can fuse anything to anything, or combine any item with, say, an arrow, in order to modify its behaviour.
Otherwise it'll boil down to a limited selection of gimmicky new mechanics and a slightly different map. I can't shake the feeling that this should just be BotW DLC, not a separate game.

Apparently it started out as an expansion.
Just have to have faith that it's on a 32gb game card for a good reason.

Although I agree with the worries that it might be too similar to BotW in look and feel, I don't understand the "it should be dlc" comments tbh. The fuse mechanic alone is not something you can just slap on top of an existing game and call it a day.
Even if the game may look very similar, the mechanics and the way you interact with the environment may end up being radically different - especially if the powers from the first game don't return. Which is a pretty genius move from Nintendo the more I think about it, even if everyone may not like it.

I like BoTW a lot, but had some fairly big issues with it, so I wasn't particularly hyped for this. But having watched the video I'm now in the day one camp.
Yes, I'd rather have a new Zelda on a new Nintendo console, but the fuse mechanic, and the way they have added new locations in the sky, have sold it for me.
