Going to Las Vegas next year. Obviously a cash grab but this is huge if the sport is to continue growing. Whether this is good or not up for debate. Can't be argued with will be a hell of a spectacle and may even compete with monaco for the flagship race.

It'll be shit, because Vegas is shit. However, there's no doubting it'll be unique. Edit - Also, I have no idea how Vegas will deal with the disruption. The strip is busy enough at the best of times, and that's going to take weeks to set up. Locals will fucking hate it. Oh, and fully expect £500 a night hotels / comical direct flight prices (though that can be avoided by switching planes in NY). I wonder what the corner rooms will go for at the Cosmo. I usually stay there, and it's reasonable enough, but I'd be surprised if it's less than £1k a night on race weekend. I feel for anyone that gets the wrong side of the building. lol This'll be what you want: www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/resort/rooms-suites/wraparound-terrace-suite-fountainMight need a sugar daddy / mamma to afford it though.

Agreed, Vegas is shit. Spent 5 days there, which was 4 days too long.
Also, this is a night race, meaning it'll take place in the middle of the night for most F1 fans around the world. Great.

I'm reserving judgement until we see what the track's like. Other than races not taking place in countries with human rights issues, that's really the only factor I particularly care about.
After last week's race in an active warzone, I guess hosting one at the site of a mass shooting is technically a step in the right direction.

Yikes forgot about that not really sure how you police that. thousand vantage points..... grim In terms of the race itself it was inevitable and don't think there're many real reasons to complain as long as they don't lose the legacy tracks completly.

You’d struggle to host a US Grand Prix if “not near the site of a mass shooting” was a key stipulation.

I don't mind a third North American GP, but thought a West Coast/East coast double header would have sufficed. Asia and Africa are severely under represented. Would rather a more rounded World Championship. A few European races could go and not be missed too. Like them to keep the heritage locations like here, Germany, Spa, France and Spain. But yeah make it a world championship! Would like to see them rotate some venues as well. Have Donington/Fuji Speedway/Adelaide rotate with Silverstone etc etc. And reintroduce the European/Pacific (Asian) Grand Prix as a triple crown event with the americas and allow countries to apply to host the Grand Prix that year which means countries like Vietnam seeking to get on the calendar can without going over board

4 DRS Zones for Melbourne. 4!
That feels a bit cheap, but I guess we'll see.

These Canadian billionaires eh?
Don't know why Stroll was slowly drifting across the track. I don't think Latifi did much wrong for once. When he yielded it was clear and then was understandably confused by Strolls pace and line. Really looked like Stroll was leaving space there until he wasn't.
Stroll didn't communicate to the others clearly enough what he was doing by his 'body language'. It's precisely why GTE drivers are told to just stay on the racing line when being lapped by LMP cars in endurance racing.

That's comically bad from a guy who now has over 100 starts.

I'm missing the undercard this weekend. Bit of a shame they won't give us a one off round of V8 Supercars on Sky F1 seeing as we don't have F2 and F3.

Bit of a mare for Sainz there. Leclerc is certainly looking the business so far though and that Ferrari is just sexy.

Yeah I think Leclerc's going to need him to get up in there if it's going to be a close fight with Max this year. Perez certainly will be.

Sainz clearly can't run the same setup as leclrec which is making his poiposing alot worse.
Any chance of sainz fighting leclrec for a championship slowly fading away already.
Mclaren seemed to have sorted out the gremlins which is encouraging.
Not bad from merc either when that car looks like a bucking bronco

How have Merc managed to get so far behind this year?
Edit: I know the reason, but not how they allowed it to happen

Even more embarrassing as they made a huge song and dance about how they were stopping development of last year's car every weekend last season, and wind up miles behind the team that were supposedly sacrificing this year a bit in pursuit of the title.
Hopefully the new wind tunnel rules break the positive feedback loop a bit and Red Bull and Ferrari's advantage isn't baked in for years. A bit depends on just how fucked Mercedes are with the engine too, although I fully expect 'reliability' updates to sort any disadvantages they have there anyway.

There have been several Mercedes engine reliability issues already. A cynical person might suggest they are convenient.

Any other tragics up at 5:30 on a Sunday for this?
Let's hope the Master's doesn't go to a playoff tonight, I'll be struggling.

Been a few years since I’ve done this, only to get downstairs to find the dog had an explosive case of the shits overnight, so missed the start. Never again.
