Horner has really gone from someone I respect to someone I despise over the past few years, but fuck me he is almost as bad as verstappen these days for whining and accusations. Not a hint of self awareness in this interview. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/60651647Yeah, Red Bull's bunker mentality has turned me off in a big way over the last few years. Not that I think Merc are much better, but Horner / Marko's asshattery outweighs Wolff's for me.

Red bull are frustrating as I used to like the attitude, upsetting the order of things etc etc. However they're now such a powerhouse in F1 they've almost become what they joined to not be.
Max has his faults but so does Lewis. Lewis being older is a bit wiser and calmer. Most the blame for the utter circus has to rest with toto and horner. They could have put cold water over so much of the shithousery but instead they fueled it and became part of the patomine. Which in itself is laughable compared to how well (at times) max and Lewis conducted themselves.
It really could have been the season to beat all seasons but it has been ruined by everyone but the drivers.
Even as a Lewis fan I feel for max. He's had his season ruined aswell as he will always have his title questioned. Doesn't matter how much he puts a shine on it. When he's alone at night he will know its all a bit of a farce. Not that the records will show that in years to come.

They are all their own flavour of cunt these guys at the top of the teams. Only this week it's been reported that Toto 'we welcome competition' Wolff has been making life awkward for a potential Andretti entry because it would upset the precious balance they have at the moment. Make no mistake, these fuckers have absolutely no qualms about 'fairness' as long as they are the ones stomping on everyone else.

This is why the buy in price (200 million) is so high. F1 and the teams don't really want anymore teams coming in. Fear of change and all that. They want engine manufacturers but individual teams a no no. Marketing wise it's another set of colours for people to watch that isn't their own team.
I imagine andretti will end up buying haas. I suppose the gripe is that they inherit all the hard work without paying anywhere near the cost financially and in hours.

So definitely some NFT/Crypto startup they never see a penny from then.
There was a cycling team this happened to last year – they lost their original title-sponsor halfway through the season, then 'NextHash' came in with money. Then when that didn't materialise, they couldn't raise the funds for their WorldTour license so had to drop down a tier.

Feel as though we're going to see quite a bit of that in various sports over the next 2-3 years. Unless you're being paid in advance, it seems absolutely mad to me that you'd hinge your team's financial future on any of that nonsense.

I suppose the gripe is that they inherit all the hard work without paying anywhere near the cost financially and in hours. The buy in price is not entirely cynical. It's because A) the prize pot would be diluted for the existing teams so the buy in is in part compensation B) to stop chancers, the logic being a large up front cost should ensure multi year commitment. Maybe it's too high but I can see the sense in having one. I lost all respect for Horner last year. There's use to be an element of tongue in cheek 'playing the game' behind his bullshit but now it's delivered with a Trumpian conviction that black is white and vice versa. Wolf not a great guy either but he doesn't take F1 fans for idiots. He is self interested too of course, but he's more measured and rational.

Mazepin starting a foundation for athletes who can't compete due to politics called 'we compete as one'.
Trolling the FIA. That'll end well for him.
Thing is Nikita, if you buy into F1 on the back of state assets then drive a car with the flag of that state plastered all over it, you can't really argue sport isn't political. Nor can you adequately distance yourself from the actions of Russia whilst remaining unprepared to criticise them for invading a peaceful neighbouring country.

If we want to talk about competing; the guy was regularly found 30+ seconds behind his teammate in races. As good a reason as any to let a driver go. If anything politics allowed him to compete in the first place.

K-Mag back in for Haas. Good for him. Yes good to see him back. Would have maybe have got a le mans win but you don't turn down f1. Mazepin starting a foundation has to possibly be the most laughable thing ever. Arrogant cunt who isn't very good. making it all about him. Failing to notice the logistical and marketing nightmare they would be having a Russian associated to a team.

I had the faintest touch of sympathy until this absolutely tone deaf nonsense he's come up with. Basically for the first time in his life, money hasn't been able to solve the problem, and his reaction shows.

The Race cite a Merc source as saying this version was 'significantly faster' in simulations.
Looked massively twitchy on the lap Hamilton just did.

They are fucking lunatics. Even if it turns out to be a Williams walrus nose, it's absolutely bat shit mental and I love that they've tried it.
Would also be funny if it was a giant ruse to throw the others off the scent. Quietly happy with the last test, let's throw something odd on to make them all panic.

Might be able to combine like Alonso did. You'd have thought he is in a position to dictate terms. If I was him I'd be wanting to keep it open at least until he knows if Haas are competitive.

No way would Merc spend so much of the limited budget and test time on misdirection.
It's serious. They've just done a hot weather comparison of sealing the cooling fins with tape and not. i.e. checking their thermal calculations to ensure they haven't made a huge mistake.

Horner already moaning about the Merc being against the 'spirit of the rules'.
I imagine Mercedes will be genuinely delighted by that, you worry if the other teams aren't bothered.
Much as I want Merc to beat RB (but not McLaren), I will stick to what I said before. If it's a loophole which prevents cars following closely the FIA have to act immediately for the good of the sport.

Merc: the little wings on the side are there to comply with the minimum width requirements for side-impact protection. Can't imagine they'll do much.
In car-shot looks amazing though.

Yeah a lot of drivers commented during the first test that they noticed a difference in the ability to follow straight away which was very encouraging. That needs to overrule everything or this whole set of regulations has been completely redundant.

It's so ridiculously aggressive you have to believe it will either be one extreme or the other in terms of performance.
The big question will be reliability with packaging that tight. You have to wonder if they were privately encouraged at how Hamilton's spicy engine held up at the end of last season with a mind to using this design.

Loads of ads on the radio from Sky F1. £18 a month... Isn't that a bit shocking? Or do people shell out that no problem?

Yeah been like that for a few years now. I have a mini rant about it every year... I just stick with C4 highlights.
