Had a quick go at the Saudi track on F1 2021. Initial thought was, ah yes I remember why I don't play F1 2021. Beyond that the actual track just seems oddly dangerous, which was a surprise.
There are so many flat out bind turns with no room to take evasive action if you suddenly find a stranded car in your path. You repeatedly get that 'hold your breath and brace' sensation found entering that flat out kink in Baku and at the top of eu rouge. I kind of thought the FIA was trying to improve on those sorts of situations, not add more.
I guess that's somewhat exciting but I'm a bit concerned the race will devolve into a safety car and red flag fest.

They are trying to improve safety unless they come across large moneyhats, which I expect the Saudis are wearing.

They've thrown it together frighteningly quickly too. Place looked like a building site just weeks ago. I'm sure all of the necessary safety checks haven't been rushed through, absolutely certain.

I mean, a good lap here is about 15 near misses to be fair.
But yeah, the drivers seem to love it but I can't help feeling anxious. The speeds, the walls, the lack of run-off. Seems a bit reckless.

Can't deny it's spectacular. The way the Red Bull in particular changes direction is just breathtaking but all the cars look properly fast on this track.

Let's see tomorrow, but currently it appears like they had a blank sheet of paper and a massive bag of cash and somehow designed a track that isn't suitable for multiple cars at the same time.
For 80% of the lap drivers are totally dependent on team radio updates to avoid a collision, which is just mad. What if the radio fails?
