Born women, live as women, compete as women. The IOC seems to have a pretty reasonable idea of whether they’re eligible.
Some people are just built for their sport. No one thought Ronda Rousey was secretly a man during her original UFC bulldozer run. She was just the right woman to do it. Until a kick to the head showed that she wasn’t.
Everyone at the Olympics is a genetic freak, its why they’re there and we’re here.

I imagine putin has slipped him a bit extra "for the wife".
I've been enjoying the absence of Russia from these Olympics, but frustratingly they've still managed to fuck things up with their disruptive methods.

I think they should get rid of all the horse events at the Olympics. Not only is it a shit sport for boring horse wankers, but there's no way they aren't all whipping the fuck out of the animals in secret. Not only that but from the few minutes I've watched (making me an expert) the horses look really uncomfortable all the way through, especially with the mouth thing (expert).

Saw a little of the jumping horses and I really do wonder what the fuck the riders actually do, besides keeping balance. The horse seems to be doing all the work and should be the ones getting the medals.
Dislike watching it (both as it is boring and because of the welfare of the horses), but also acknowledge I'm a hypocrite who recently very much enjoyed the War of the Roses show at Warwick Castle a few weeks ago, which featured quite a few horse stunts.

Horses do the bulk of the work but there's more for the rider to do than just keep balance - I learned this the hard way after basically saying the same thing to my partner and being told to put my money where my mouth is.
Show jumping and especially dressage are boring as fuck but I've grown to like the eventing/cross country bit - the horses actually seem to enjoy that one.

I don't want to proscribe which events should be in, as different people have different tastes. (except tennis, football, golf which are right out!) But I do feel like there are some events that could do with *less* versions. Some things like Judo, diving, equestrian, etc.. seem like they go on for weeks. Reduce things a little and make space for some other events.
---
Am I the only one who doesn't like the instant disqualification for false starts in things like the 100m? I'm sure they used to give yellow cards, and a second offence was disqualification. It seems ridiculously harsh to disqualify someone from an event they might have been training for 4 years for, just for one half millisecond mistake. It can't even save that much time.

My likely poor hot take is that sports like golf, tennis, football and basically anything else where a Gold Medal isn't the ultimate end goal shouldn't be an olympic event.

My sister's ex is/was a dressage horse trainer, wannabe horse investor/broker, and a fat cunt. I spent some time in the early days of their relationship helping take photos for his website etc., hated every minute of it, horse people are the absolute worst. Funny thing was he loved to think he was part of the whole scene and very much Walter Mitty-ed his way through it, when in fact he barely made any profit on any horses, drank away any profit he made, became a fat old cunt that nobody wanted training their expensive horses, and now he looks after pub gardens and mows lawns.

The only horse event should be jousting. Now you couldn't use proper lances because of the woke horse agenda but they could easily be substituted for giant foam/rubber lances.

As long as they use the proper explodey lances from Knight's Tale that would be awesome.

I broadly agree with this - although it has been interesting seeing the women’s world cup only just over take the Olympics in the last tournament or two. But for the big billion dollar sports it doesn’t make much sense, especially as they aren’t even enormous crowd draws the way athletics, swimming, gymnastics etc are

I always thought the football was totally irrelevant and mostly ignored it. And I seem to remember half the football games in the UK Olympics being empty, when other events were hard to get tickets for. But being in Japan, the football was one of the events they were most interested in (after the ones they were best at, like Judo, Wrestling, Swimming, etc..). There was very little interest in Athletics. It's weird, cos for me the olympics basically *is* athletics, but that doesn't seem to be universal.

It'll be so people don't try and predict the gun and get an advantage by guessing right rather than having a real, reactive, good start - which is part of the skill. Otherwise theoretically everyone guesses when the gun might go safe in the knowledge they have another go. Now, they absolutely have to wait for the gun. I think it's the right rule.
