this is awesome. combat canoing is my new favourite sport and all sports should begin with contestants dropped from 5 meters into a river

It seems more Olympic than pistols and horse dancing to me. Very entertaining. Unclear how much is skill and how much is circumstance!

I can’t believe half them are getting around those slalom gates/posts the way they’re supposed too.
I’m pretty sure its game over before they even hit the bit where they flip upside down.

I love these 'cross' racing events. Think the trend was started with snowboarding in the winter Olympics.
It's a great formula, take a slightly individual dull sport and then make people race. Snowboards, BMXs and now Kayaks. They are all chaotically great.
Diving cross please, or show jumping cross perhaps?

We seem to be on a run of missing Golds. Need the Hodgkinson and the cyclists to sort this out. That was fun though.

loved that, it's the diving up the inside to punt your opponent out the way and inadvertently scuppering yourself in the process move that i'm an expert in at Wreckfest

Commentator's curse again, BBC saying the British bloke in the kayak madness would be too strong for the others and he gets silver. The British woman squeaked a bronze as the German got a fault.
It's a fun event though, I want a bigger "track" and more racers for more insanity.

That biking pursuit competition makes no sense.
