Did MvdP not take part in the mountain biking? Targeting the road race. Their performance director reckons that the course favours them.

A silly irrational dislike on my part ever since she mocked Liam Treadwell's teeth following his Grand National win. Tbf, he ran well Sugar cubes all round

Blimey, looked like France were cruising in the Women's Sevens and Canada have just beaten them.

Absolutely insane not to start their winger that scored 4 tries earlier. The coach will not be treated kindly by the papers.

I'll be surprised if it's not NZ vs Australia in the Women's Sevens final.

Bronze medal in the swimming for Ireland's McSharry, the first medal since Michelle Smith in 1996. Which is another way of saying the first one ever. As an island nation, I've no idea why we have such a poor culture of swimming but there's likely another one (favourite for gold) in the men's 800m tomorrow so this is quite a high point.

Whoa! Japan kicking ass in the medal table.
With the ever reliable Judo medals, and the still weird-to-me skateboarding dominance.
They even got a bronze in the Equestrian team(?) and no Japanese person I've talked to has ever not been surprised that there were even horse events in the Olympics! For years I think they just had one lone 80 year old guy riding his horse!

Commentators were saying Japan made a special effort to get good at equestrian for the Tokyo Olympics. Seems like it came good albeit 3 years too late.

Omg pistol shooting is an impressively dull sport live.
India is apparently a huge fan of the sport. Between this and cricket do they just need sport in order to get to sleep or something?

They should turn it into competitive paintball. And allow them to dual wield.

It was crying out for a Murray Walker, or that rowing bloke that used to commentate on Redgrave and co who sounded like he was about to pass out with excitement as they neared the finish line. BBC Radio 5 Live's Jonathan Overend and Victoria Pendleton did much better!

Not feeling the windsurfing. No fucking clue where they’re going, and the actual race looks exactly the same as the warm up phase whilst they were waiting for the start.
Sorry, but it’s merde to watch

I find that with all the sailing and sea based sports. NFI what's going on.

That was a weird race, 90% of the fleet fucked up the start.
The current selection of boats and board floaty things in the Olympics is seriously specatator unfriendly, at least the various Dinghy's they used to have were a bit more followable although they still needed a bit of knowledge of wind, angles of sailing and the course though.

Omg pistol shooting is an impressively dull sport live. Very true. I kept trying to escape it, but BBC kept insisting on going back to it. The competitors do give some impressive/terrifying silent assassin stares though.

Sorry, but it’s merde to watch Windsurfing is the devil’s sport. Nearly died learning to windsurf on a Mark Warner sports holiday in Greece once. 15mins intro then good luck have fun for 1hr. 30mins of this was quite fun going back and forward with a bit of speed from time to time but it’s bloody exhausting keep getting back on the board after regularly falling off and then picking up the sail. Then wow getting quite far out to sea now. About 15mins later ok shit people on the beach are the size of ants now. Where the fuck is the help and rescue boat? 15 mins later of panicked arm waving by which I’m thinking a life at sea is definitely not for me and boat finally comes out to me from the beach with the recovery guy screaming at me how dangerous I was coming this far out to sea. Queue me explaining first time I’ve ever done this do you think I would choose willingly to come about a mile out to sea ffs?! Getting back to beach and never done it since. Sport of lunatics.

Fantastic shotgun shooting from Nathan Hales, with a well earned gold and an Olympic record of 48/50. Grace under pressure and the co-op partner you’d want on House of the Dead down the arcade.

Gold in the trap shooting for Nathan Hales! Fuckin mad, he hit 48 out of 50 shots, new Olympic record and one off his world record. You know you're something special when you beat a Chinese competitor in any of these types of events.
