Oh for fucks sake, I had to refresh it again and saw a chat comment that described Starship Troopers as "fake helldivers lol" Extermination is really good. There's enough different to Helldivers 2 you could happily play both, though I prefer Extermination because I love tower defense games and building bases against the relentless hordes. It's almost a shame it got a bit overshadowed but hopefully the updates will keep coming. |

Also made by just 2 people which is very impressive.
Just saw the Unrecord trailer from last year and it's insane how good that looks.

I'm really not expecting much in that regard. Recent rumours suggest that the Watch Dogs series is dead (which is a pity, but not all that surprising after Legion bombed); another bit of scuttlebutt suggests that Ghost Recon is going to return to its first-person roots, which is never my preferred way to play games; and as for the Splinter Cell remake, who the hell knows.
On the other hand, Far Cry 7 and Just Dance 2025 are probably dead certs, so... yay?

What's really annoying about Legion is the game itself, while not as good as WD2, is still a perfectly decent game, the big problem with it is the "be anyone" idea just doesn't bloody work. The voice acting is incredibly variable too for the rando characters you recruit, you'd swear some of the VA had never done it before.

Legion was alright, but it could have done more with the core concept than it actually did. Any time I was actually impressed by what seemed like it could be emergent gameplay within was actually just a box being checked off behind the scenes to imitate random happenstance.
Also, it seemed like a visual downgrade from 2, which didn't help. Compare the character models for Wrench in 2 and in his Legion DLC, and it's clear there was a huge sacrifice made.

I enjoyed Legion, but it was as much about having fun* in the London-themed sandbox as anything else.
Better than 1, not as good as 2, and an ignominious end to the series (if those rumours are accurate).
* Some of the fun stemmed from stripping all my recruited characters down to their undergarments, a change that was faithfully rendered in cutscenes.

Did consider saving that argument I had with LexW where he refused to acknowledge the reality of a situation despite being shown multiple screenshots, multiple testimonials and even a specific boolean flag, but hey. Could definitely see why he rubbed a fair few people up the wrong way especially because he never backed down, and also especially to people who now and then like to talk down to folk. |

Summer Game Fest is Geoff Keighley's shindig. It started out as a competitor to E3, but has become the de facto summer showcase following the latter's demise.
Alongside SGF there have been a bunch of individual events, including Xbox's show (yesterday) and Ubisoft Forward (this evening). |
