Yes it's a horrible name for a game, but a new game from the Persona team is worth anyone's attention. Released in Oct, it's an RPG with a pretty wild setting and a new combat system. Shoji Meguro is back as a composer with a different style, the UI is still the best in the business and other contributors from the likes of Nier Automata and Neon Genesis Evangelion are involved. www.youtube.com/live/AMO-eAwvvuY?si=s2p0A-VC7rK1x1Uv

October's not too far off, that's a nice surprise! I'm not a huge fan of the UI though, there are too many small, differing fonts and it's too noisy for how little contrast there is. The main sans-serif font used for descriptions in the Japanese is small, heavy but condensed which I can see being a real pain to read on Steam Deck. Persona 5's text rendering was absolutely terrible on the Deck too - hopefully they'll be able to fix that as I don't think I can cheat through it by kicking it up to 1080p.
It's a weird contrast between the huge white text elements and the shadows beneath them which are needed to make them readable crowding the screen and the relatively tiny and dense descriptive text. They use the skeuomorphic 'subtitle' type font for spoken dialogue, which is significantly more readable, though.
There's a Japanese stream at midday UK time on the Atlus channel so I might check that out.

As a long term Atlus preorderer (even double dipping etc)I have been doing so a lot less recently due to how there is almost always an improved version soon afterwards. I skipped P3 Reload, even after price drops. I will probably get SMT V Vengeance but not preordered it. It is a shame as Atlus was one of the few companies I would actually preorder things (even if only for how quickly they could go out of print).

Not sure about this. Seems weird to go fantasy and then make everything look so modern. Also, super don't like the MC design

Previews for this are all sounding incredibly positive. Wasn't really on my radar (mainly due to the daft title) but it is now.

5pm today for steam I think. Looking forward to getting stuck in later if it appears on Xbox.

Cannot fucking wait for this game, so much so I won't play the demo as want to go in as blind as possible. Two and a bit weeks to go!

Progress carries over, so my thinking was that I'd get through the inevitable slow start now and then get straight into the meat of the game in a couple of weeks.

Indeed, if it's anything like the pacing of P5 it might be worth doing now. Particularly as it's a fantasy world so it's gonna need time to establish the world.

Sounds like this runs like arse on the PC version, according to both Steam forums and Reddit. May or may not be accurate, but some are suggesting it is only using a single CPU core and everything is getting bottlenecked.
Might be worth holding off on those pre-orders if you were planning on the PC version.

Yeah, that's about my take. Goes between 25 and 90fps on Steam Deck OLED and the only graphics option that makes any difference, the rendering resolution, doesn't have the impact it should.
Try the demo first though, you might be alright with it, but there's no refresh rate to pick on Deck at least. It spends too much time above or below anything you could select to make anything a good single choice.

Woah, a 60GB demo? This sucks. But I'll give it a try anyway.
Aside from the supposedly bad porting, PC requirements are quite low. And some are saying performance can be improved with DXVK. Guess I'll give it a try on the old laptop first. If it runs bad, I can always transfer the data to the desktop (thanks Steam) and see if the Ryzen 5700X3D helps some.

It's surprisingly generous for a modern demo. I got a couple of hours in on Xbox before I had to stop last night. Love the way you can just plough through weaker enemies without starting a battle.
Being able to switch up your companions' archetype looks like it'll add a ridiculous amount of options. I have a feeling the next couple of weeks are going to be torture when I've actually finished it...
Surprised that the PC version struggles given that it's a glorified PS4 game. Feels like something that should be very playable on Steam Deck. It's obviously got a great visual style, but still feels rooted in the last gen.

Played about 2 hrs, did first boss battle. Pretty engaged by the setting and good god that presentation and UI. This teams knows if youre gonna have a 100+ hr RPG, may as well have the menus look so stylish throughout so it's never boring. Nobody does it better. Definitely looking forward to the full game now

Anyone tried it on PS5? Might pick it up on there instead of PC, as I would assume I wouldn't be missing out graphically and performance sounds like it will be much better.
Just miss out on being able to play on Steam Deck.

Saw a mention of the framerate fluctuating a bit on PS5 in the city and dungeon and it leaning on VRR. Haven't noticed any issues at all on Xbox (but then VRR is probably kicking in if there are dips)
I'm kind of torn between getting it for PC instead though. Would be excellent on Steam Deck presuming the performance issues mentioned above can be sorted.

Tried it on Steam Deck connected to my TV and noped out of that... £38 on eBay with a code for the Xbox version will have to do!
I'm definitely glad that I played the demo anyway. Gives a very generous slice of the game and you get a chance to get to grips with some of the systems. I shelved it just after the warning that the demo ends in 3 days as that felt like a more natural jumping off point than half completing the dungeon. Although I might come back to it to do the optional hard dungeon.
On the other hand, the next two weeks are going to be torture! Especially if me being a cheapskate means missing out on release day.
