I like the Reese's Peanut Butter stuff, but that's more due to my fondness for peanut butter than chocolate; in fact, I'm not sure the coating is actually chocolate. More 'chocolate-flavoured' than the real deal.

You need to have that experience of going to the US, eating a Hershey's bar and slowly realising how fucking disgusting they are. I like a Daim, but much like a Crunchie it has the issue of gluing itself to your teeth, requiring you to excavate helf the bar out from your teeth long after you've finished. That's the best part!

Reese's Pieces are delicious.
I am quite partial to the odd bit of US chocolate, like Hershey. Certainly wouldn't eat it all the time and fully understand the hate it gets, but I do quite like it. Fully accept that makes me a deviant sicko.

I remember when I first tried Hershey's. I was living in Vietnam and a student had bought me a giant and I mean GIANT bar of Hershey's for helping them pass their exam into university. It was really thoughtful and couldn't wait to eat it, I remember me and my gf at the time trying it and then our smiling faces soon went down slowly over time as the taste in our mouths kept changing. It was honestly vile and I was shocked that Americans I knew kept going on how they made the best chocolate. Fucking hell.

It's just so strange that a country that prides itself on being the best at everything is proud of chocolate that smells like, depending on who you talk to, parmesan cheese, the exhaust of a vacuum cleaner, or the aftertaste of being sick.

Aftertaste of puke was definitely the vibe I got when trying some ages ago. It was such a disappointment after hearing so much in popular culture about hershey bars.
Their bacon is shit.
Twinkies were also a mushy pile of shite too. How americans can bang on about their 'food' I'll never know.

Yeah a lot of the packaged stuff just tastes of artificial ingredients.
And yes the Hershey's bar first tasted of plastic then had that sour milk/puke aftertaste.

Hersheys works well for Smores. Other than that it's foul.
I still remember when I was backpacking in the US and then Australia, and I got my girlfriend at the time to post me a huge bar of Dairy Milk to Sydney central post office because after about 2 months I was getting desperate for proper chocolate. Aus and Nz have Dairy Milk everywhere, even some cool looking variations that we don't have. But it all tastes like American chocolate, so they must put the same stuff in it. Not as bad as Hersheys, but not great.
I had forgotten Double Deckers. Those were the best, but I remember not many other people liking them at the time.
Honestly, depending on my mood, I might argue for about 2 dozen bars being the best. But Double Deckers were the underdogs so I feel they need the support.

I don't think they put the vomit chemical in it but they do put stuff in to make it shelf stable at higher temperatures. I remember the disappointment the first time I bought one of those Aussie Dairy Milk bars.

I think they had a kind of Dairy Milk bar with Guarana in it, as this was the days of Xtreme Sports and V Energy drinks and Guarana being in everything. It's annoying because all the import stores in Tokyo have Dairy Milk, but it's always imported from Aus/Nz. Parents just brought over some proper easter eggs for the kids though, with mini Mars/Bounty/Twix/Galaxy/Maltezers/etc... so all is well with the world. For now.

Anybody else just like unadulterated chocolate as they get older? I know there’s been the shade cast at lovers of no honeycomb/extras already.
But honestly I’ll take just a Wispa or Dairy Milk over most stuff now and I used to want them as complex as possible.
That said, I love a chewy/goopy bar every now then. In fact I’ve just had some rare afternoon pints and had a Double Decker back at the hotel. That’s what I’m talking about. It’s all contextual. One of those or a Boost if on the beers or the aftermath can be awesome.
But yeah if not I quite like just chocolate now in my usual sober state. Quite enjoy ready salted crisps now which as a kid, was a punishment.
Having said that, Biscuit & Raisin Yorkie. Yes.
And a Lion. Yes.
Still devestated about Caramac, and no, Caramilk isn’t a replacement, it’s a tasteless cloud of a bar.

Everyone's a fruit and nut-case. I'm happy with nice bar of that.

It's all right, but the raisins ruin it for me. Whole nut all the way.
My missus likes fruit & nut, so I will tolerate them from time to time for marital harmony.

Twirls are good, but Spira were better. When I was dating my ex, we used to meet up every night. We’d have a few pints, play pool, and every night I would buy us each a packet of Twirls for the walk home. After being together for nearly nine months, it was nearly Easter. She asked what eggs I liked, and I replied that I didn’t like chocolate. So she got me nothing, but when she said she hadn’t got me anything, our friends pointed out that I had a Twirl everyday. And always made sure she got one also.

Way too much Milka. It got a bit boring over the years, but Peanut Caramel is still hard to resist. It helps that there are so many different varieties. Another go-to for me is just good old Kinderschokolade (Kinder Chocolate, Kinder Cioccolato etc.).
But overall buying Chocolate at Billa (Rewe) or Spar has gotten a bit boring. Hofer (Aldi) has different brands like Choceur and Moser-Roth, which is nice for mixing it up. The white nut & crisp variety of the 200 g Choceur bar has been a favourite for years. Even though I'm not usually big on white chocolate.
Nothing too fancy. I don't usually buy anything by Lindt or Zotter.

Had a Wispa today. Forgot how nice they are. Much better than an Aero with its super weird aftertaste.

Look at you guys slagging off American chocolate and then worshipping at the feet of the cadburys and the like of awful British chocolate.
Lindt 70% is perfect, but other mainly dark chocolate from Belgium, Switzerland etc is proper stuff.

Just can't get on with dark chocolate. I've tried various types in the past but I think I'm just not a fan of the bitter/sweet combo.
Give me milk and sugar!
