Yeah same! I totally remember pestering my parents for it too, those ads made it look so awesome!

From my experience nostalgia really hits when your parents are ill/dying. When my dad passed last year, there was a lot of hanging around in waiting rooms, hoping for the best. In the waiting room was a copy of Retro Gamer, looking back at the Zelda series. It broke my heart. I only got a copy of Ocarina of Time because the poor bastard drove me all over the county trying to find a copy.

It's weird that I feel like i had basically every toy mentioned in this thread. I'm sure that's not physically or economically possible. Maybe some mates had some and I spent a lot of time playing with them. Or maybe I picked up some second hand at a school fete or something. Or maybe I'm just sometimes misremembering something I *really* wanted from a tv ad, but never got.
Definitely had some tomytronic things. I'm also pretty sure I had the first manta force ship, but I don't remember having any of the stuff from inside, so maybe that was a mate's, or a 2nd hand thing?
Definitely had Crossbows and Catapults as I remember epic battles of that across the living room floor. I remember trying to find a copy of it recently, but it was not to be.
I did have a bunch of A-Team (with rubber heads), He-Man and TMNT action figures that were big and chunky and I remember being cool, but hard to stand up. The weird thing is when you look back at old action figures now, they aren't half as detailed as you remember. (same applies to Star Wars figures, OG Transformers, etc..)

Might be getting super niche now: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ancestral_Trail?wprov=sfla1If The Hobbit, Golden Axe and Hero Quest were the gateway, then this*, Space Crusade and the Wednesday after school games club (which included 40k, WHFB, Man o' War and Space Hulk) were the straight into my veins Geek for Life stuff. *My Nan, who was running a newsagent and noticed my love of Tolkien, bought me the whole series. It's long gone, all my childhood books, toys, models, etc are. I would commit such atrocities to have the whole stack of the magazines to read through for a weekend. Had this as well. So much nostalgia in this thread, and so much loss

I was thinking similar but then literally all of our Star Wars - including X-Wing and AT-AT - was second hand from jumble sales, charity shops, school fairs and church fetes. We were too young for the original trilogy but too old for the prequels so grew up when there was a slight lag in availability of stuff like all character in Jabba’s palace.

Those Tomy-tronic games were sick. Had a racing one and a shark hunting one. Racing one was better, shark one was a bit cheesy. I wanted one of those.. santa got me Astro Wars, which I thought was pretty great!
I've always wondered what you saw when you looked inside one of those tomy ones, vid for anyone else:
Ahh, that must have been pretty great to play back in the day!

I had this beauty as a kid. I kept it in great condition right up to my early 20s but my girlfriend made me give it to her nephew for his birthday because we were poor and because she was giving me lots of sex. Little shit trashed it. Now I'm older I do regret it terribly, despite my opening post saying I tend not to look back. You guys have kindled something inside me... I had this back in the day, but no idea where it is now. I secretly preferred my brother's Red Venom ship (the red enemy equivalent ship, already posted) because the vehicles integrated into the ship better, whereas this ship is essentially just a big car park.

Thinking of my Nana always reminds me of Golden Girls, as I’d stay with her on Fridays and she would without fail fall asleep during it.

If we're going the toys route then I had one of these, not available that widely (UK and France only IIRC) and seeing a boxed one on sale for a ridiculous amount of money at Star Wars Celebration 2016 made me wish I knew where it went. Mint ones, which are extremely rare, are worth thousands.
My mate had that when I was kid, I was so jealous!

There's a great channel called Leicester Toy Shop, who do tours around shops, conventions and collections.
This guy sadly passed away recently, and had a mega Star Wars collection
Also did a video with Wossy
I highly recommend their tours through Europe. Nice time fillers.

One day, someone is going to turn up on The Repair Shop with a box full of Action Force figures with the rubber waist bands in need of replacing, and He-Man figures with perished heads.
I wish that person could be me, but my Action Force figures all perished in the great Cobra wars. (And subsequent car boot sales).

I have fond memories of Count Duckula and also collecting Premier League stickers books. One year I remember some of the shinies giving away hamburgers and fries from McDonald's so I saved loads up and went to go get it from the nearest one which was actually about 4 miles away.
I was on my bike with about 12 burgers and fries and must have been about 5 doors away from my house when the bottom of the bag gave way and scattered the burgers and fries everywhere. I was distraught but to make matters worse the whole family were waiting for me as we were having it for tea. You should have seen the look on everyone's face when I showed them where are tea was. My mum still laughs about it now.

We've got a toy collectors fair in our town, that comes every 3 months. They have all the toys people have mentioned on here, but at insane prices. Always rammed full of people too, and not just old codgers with trains.

Munchies, yes. Not sure about walnut whips. I devastated when the Star Bar was discontinued as I loved it back in the day. Even though it is back, I found out recently that it hadn't been discontinued, but was rebranded as a new boost.

M&S do their own walnut whips or at least did- I haven't bought any in the last year or so.
They're nice.

I can't buy walnut whips anymore after my partner commented how my cock looked like one once.
It was a cold day!

I spent hours on this thing Then eventually took it apart to figure out how it worked. It was pretty smart/simple design, just a rotating track that projected onto the screen via a backlight. I’ll never forget the noise it made, kind of a mechanical bzzzt every time you fired.

I spent a lot of time on this before I got my Master System. They seem to go for a few hundred these days. Handheld-sized LCD game in an “arcade” body. I think it was probably the exact same game as the Tiger handheld but that handle on the left could adjust the game speed.
