I just remembered bovril being an option at the tea vending machine at the hospital.

Saw a post about this toy on Reddit and it gave me a nostagia rush to young childhood. (not the best quality clip but the first one I could find that didn't have some guy waffling on)
My dad has been trying to get my set working for when the grandkids visit but so far the motor unit just won’t play along and he can’t work out why. Lovely to see it in motion again in that clip.

Our halls of residence had one of those payphones where you pressed a button to drop the money when you got connected to allow you to speak so you could actually CALL CHATBACK ON 0891 50 50 50 and listen to the messages people left because it still accepted the dial tones to navigate the menus.
My favourite users were The Gwent Gay and Johnny The Rug.

I remember about 10 years ago there was a fad for “bone broth” where fancy shops would sell you a cup of bovril for £4 citing the “restorative properties”.

I grew up going to Latics (football) and having a bovril and a pac of smax crisps.
70’s chic hipster paradise boundary park was. That’s their thing, always before their time. Premier League at launch and non league now, when its fashionable to avoid watching oil money.

Loved Krypton Factor.
Also Body Heat presented by Jeremy Guscott and Sally Gunnell.
Sounds like something Alan Partridge would pitch.

I'm trying to think what my colleague said about Krypton Factor.. something that there was an unfair advantage between fitness and intelligence.

Imagine if they stuck on an assault course or round of Paintball in Only Connect, that's the only similar genre of quiz show that exists in these times.

I caught up with my cousins recently, we only see each other once a year or so, but we're all of similar age and spent a lot of time together as kids during school hols. Reminiscing about the good ol' days of the 80s/90s, one of them mentioned the old Cyberdrome Crystal Maze game we used to go and play in Southampton, did anyone else have one near them or go to the Soton one? Absolutely amazing as a bunch of kids running from zone to zone like lunatics. One of my favourite childhood memories. I can hardly find anything about the Southampton one, but I found some guy uploaded (terrible quality) vids 17 years ago from the Pembrokeshire one (the last one standing which shut in 2011). Just hearing the host's voice and a brief glimpse of his face brought the memories flooding back!

Remembered late 90s indie rock also-rans Gay Dad for some reason this week and listened to some of their limited stuff. Not a brilliant band but ‘Oh Jim’ and ‘Joy’ were really good and ‘OK but with a brill chorus’ respectively.
Other half was massively into indie but couldn’t remember them. Anybody else? Think one of their members was actually a practising music journo and the hype was kinda nepo and it got found out.

I remember that "Joy!" was on the FIFA 2000 soundtrack, the last hurrah before PES took over console footy for an age.
