Oh yeah I remember now. Not a huge white chocolate fan but Cadbury’s rarely go wrong.
Apart from the time they cancelled Fuse bars. Why don’t they bring those back?

Not a chance I’d go to church as a kid, I still find the concept as a sign of insanity to this day Always remember when these American evangelists came to our school and invited everyone to one of their events at a local church. They did all the weird stuff and were like “If you FEEL IT right now stand up. If you FEEL IT come up on stage and worship with us” My mate stood up because he really fancied one of the young attractive girls they’d brought over with them. I was like “Sit the fuck down you idiot”, which thankfully he listened to Wtf, I wasn't brought up religious but that's like me saying there's no way I'd go to Maplin as a kid. Dad didn't give me a choice.

Top Deck was a shandy wasn't it? I remember that, not that Cadbury thing.

I used to buy a can of Shandy Bass on the way home from school each day, with a Mr Freeze or two. I've never before really thought hard about that... 🤔

Was Howards way a nationwide thing? Sunday night was dominated by it down south. Distinctly remember lyrics along the lines of "Howaarrds wayyy... your fucking Nan is gaaay!" being a huge hit in school This was the signal for my weekly bath. I know it's a bit Peter Kay but Sunday was out to see the family, usually all of us crammed into my great Nan's 2 up 2 down. The kids would make their own fun whilst the older ones would set the world to rights over a few ciggies and plenty of cups of tea. Get home, Bullseye would usually be on. Get your Bathtime done and then the dreaded sound of either Antiques Roadshow or Heartbeat. It was the end of the weekend, and the reminder you'd not done your Geography homework that was due in on Monday morning.

Can't speak for anyone else's but absolutely no one in my family or friends would ever go to a church if it wasn't one of the usual three : wedding/Christening/funeral.
Even the Christening thing seems to be extremely rare now too, my parents didn't bother for me or my sister and that was the seventies, I think my brother was but as he's five years older than me I obviously wasn't there! When I was a little kid the most annoying thing to happen was being pretty much forced to go to my Dad's Sunday football in the morning with my brother, I think just so my Mum could get some piece and quiet for a few hours (after the game my Dad would normally have a drink with his teammates in a pub), back home for Sunday lunch.
I mean obviously it would differ from family to family and culture to culture. I was raised Roman Catholic so it was church every Sunday. My dad was a non-practicing Protestant though, so he got to have a lie-in every Sunday. That sly old dog. I was RC, mainly because the school was half decent. We'd only go every so often to "show our faces" but by and large, me and my brother would just be pissing about in Mass. Playing air guitar to hymns, shaking someone's hand for that bit too long, wondering if they did Communion in Prawn Cocktail flavour instead.

It went on for what felt like an eternity and the crowd of OAPs made me depressed to think that this would be my future; watching red flushed men throw darts at a board hoping to win a wood panelled tv and a speedboat despite the fact that they lived in a council estate nowhere near sea.

Let's hope the, currently a one off, Freddie Flintoff revival of Bullseye goes out on a Sunday evening to recreate that feeling of "shit, it's Monday tomorrow."

It's not really the same when there's an air of irony over it and the crowd weren't entirely composed of people who had one foot in the grave.

Last of the Summer Wine was another of those dreaded shows that told you your time was running out.
Who was that show even for?

That's a fair point - I certainly didn't have much (i.e. any) of a say in the whole church/Sunday School thing as a kid.

For some reason I'm thinking of That's Life (the programme with Esther Rantzen), and Clive James as being the end of Sundays, although I might be muddled up. My folks definitely had Howard's Way on too. Maybe Morse at some point too before bed. Used to like Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors in the mornings.

I'm sure That's Life was on Saturday and Clive James was like well after 10pm on Sunday, definitely past my bedtime. Just like Spitting Image. It's funny how I used to be aware my bedtime was coming up and just be quiet hoping my parents would just forget what time it was. Ahhh good old child logic. Now I can't wait to go to bed.

Yeah I always used to watch Spitting Image on Sunday nights. Also a series called Hot Metal when that was on, about a tabloid newspaper, anyone remember that
Had a TV in my room from an early age and had no official bedtime so used to watch itv right through the night,
The James Whale Show (even though he’s turned out to be a nob) Sledgehammer Crime Story Tour of Duty
All that stuff was great back then, big shout out to Moonlighting on bbc2 also, loved that show

3 months working Sports Direct while I waited for an IT job to start was my penance. My god that was grim. Fucking manky customers and shite management, staff searches every night to make sure you hadn't nicked a pair of socks or something. Zero hour contracts, fuck that. You lasted 3 months? I didn't even last a month back in 2013 after the purchase of JJB. Also reading the rest of this thread has got me humming along to the heartbeat theme tune and remembering that time was running out before bed time.

The reboot finished a couple of years ago, but they still have all 9 seasons on my5. www.justwatch.com/uk/tv-series/wentworthSunday was Antiques Roadshow and Last of the Summer Wine for me. Along with sunday dinner and that sinking feeling that only sundays have. Not that I was actually watching Antiques Roadshow, but the parents always were...

Songs of Praise, my Mum doing the laundry and the dread of school the next day is my recollection of Sundays growing up, miserable.

How could I forget that one. Yep, add it to AR and LotSW.
Though I didn't mind Last of the Summer Wine in and of itself, only the association with that Sunday Feeling.

Yeah, Songs of Praise, Highway with Harry Seacombe, Last of the Summer Wine all etched into my Sunday night memory. Then as I hot older it was The South Bank show. Seems that's still going!

Channel 4 with Jayce, and then Galaxy High. When Transworld Sport came on, it was time for some breakfast. Also, Superchamps was something I really really wanted to go on. A load of kids razzing around on bikes, buggies, mini hovercrafts. It was like a Centre Parcs version of Junior Kickstart.

Surprised no one has mentioned Heartbeat yet. That and Antiques Roadshow for me. Bath, nails clipped and arguing over who gets to sit next to the fire
