Props to @drakesmoke - this thread is fuggin' brilliant. My cheeks ache from smiling. Thanks, because I always feel like a presumptuous wanker the odd time I’ve made a thread. I’ve been taken aback by the amount of participation TBH, thought it would die on its arse but clearly this was the thread we needed!

Where's Duffman to talk about how the first TV was invented when he was a wee child

Hated the Reaccoons, can't put my finger on why, but couldn't stand it as a kid. Their noses looked like snapped cocks, that's why Probably can't post pics

Ancient enemy of The Raccoon.
Yeah that cartoon was a bit shit. We had fewer options back then.

FF books were so good, I had the first 5 or 6 of them and replayed-(re-read?) them loads of times, though Starship Traveller confused the hell out of 10 year old me, you were supposed to piece together clues for the page to turn to at the end of the story, and I never managed to actually do it properly.

My daughter got one of those foam aeroplanes with the plastic tips in a party bag recently.
They can fly quite far. We used to put pins in them and fling them at eachother. Or set them on fire and try and land them on things to burn.

Tbh with all the drama, illnesses, peadophiles, doom and gloom, dead celebs and everything else it's just nice to talk about stuff we all fondly remember. Except the Raccoons apparently.

I had a Fighting Fantasy rip-off from the newsagent on our high street that was one of those shops that sold weird bits of everything.
I’d love to own it again as it really captured the imagination but it’s like it never existed when I’ve searched for it, or Google thinks I mean Robot Commando (it wasn’t that and wasn’t an official FF).
It was about a giant mech/titan and the cover had an artist’s impression of it in sort of desert camo. To play it properly you had to use a pen and dice and stuff and it had damage tables and loadout options and everything. It was the usual radioactive wasteland with mutants and gangs scenario.
Would love to know what it was.

I had a few knock offs. I vaguely remember an Egyptian pyramid and an Aztec/Jungle adventure, but the one that left a lasting impression was all about deep sea diving. Left me terrified of jellyfish and the bends, despite not even being able to swim.

I had this beauty as a kid. That seems to have guns on the guns. A statement of intent if not the best idea!

I'd be surprised if the bullets weren't actually tiny guns. Hidden in the body of the vehicle were two cluster bombs. Basically it was complete overkill.

The Dukes of Hazard was a big one for us. We had the Barnbuster set. My mum still mentions it now. It too is in the loft.
And be careful if you’re going to hunt down your old Action Force toys - half my figures have snapped in half as the rubber gasket that holds the waist and legs to the torso corrodes.

Yeah, a couple of those broke when I was a kid. Remember the Street Fighter line from them?

The Facey group has had lots of this, plus general "Gen X are double hard etc", as well as sweets/drinks/films/music. It's been great to reminisce, here and there. Good work.

Did everyone also have WWF/WCW action figures? I had so many it was silly. I guess I was obsessed with wrestling as a kid like most kids were in the 90s, my mum even took me to see WWF at NEC when they came to England. Fuck that was something else, I think my head almost exploded.

The big rig turned into some sort of mobile command unit/base, IIRC. He also has the 4x4 with the missiles and the Venom chopper/plane, which was quite cool. He also had a BBC Micro, though it was outdated by then. Was 'friends' with him until about 14-15. Looking back he was a passive-aggresive bullying cunt.

Did anyone else have something like these? I loved them - pull the rip-cord thing and let them smash into one another so bits would pop off and show damage. I have a feeling mine were red and blue vehicles, maybe branded differently too, but they had the same pull-cord thingy which was satisfying to use. I always used to like playing on the Tomytronic games (the ones you put up to ours eyes) that other classmates would bring in on the last day of the school year (or at some point in the year), when we were all allowed to bring toys in. We'd all move around from desk to desk, trying out the cool toys your folks didn't let you have

I had this beauty as a kid. I kept it in great condition right up to my early 20s but my girlfriend made me give it to her nephew for his birthday because we were poor and because she was giving me lots of sex. Little shit trashed it. Now I'm older I do regret it terribly, despite my opening post saying I tend not to look back. You guys have kindled something inside me...
