Just reading that it was made with hearing impaired children in mind makes sooooo much sense now.

Youtube is drawing a blank but am I right that Ade Edmundson did bonfire night safety videos where he was voicing an angry firework? Or have I mentally merged the Pepparami ads with some unrelated firework safety video? I don’t remember Adrian Edmundson but I do remember The Hale and Pace fireworks code ad vividly for some reason. youtu.be/mrllYDyRYLQ?si=L-0-e-vlMHfMVrbH

That bit with the guy with the whisk spraying all over the walls looks so fucking wrong they must have known what they were doing.

Alvin Stardust was the best for public safety videos

Oh man, I suspect if I watched that now the best thing about it would be the theme tune.

It still makes me laugh about the odd stuff I watched a youngster, I watched all the stuff like The A-Team, Knight Rider and the Dukes of Hazzard but I also never missed an episode of things like Moonlighting, The Golden Girls and The Love Boat I even went through a spell of watching every episode of Prisoner Cell Block H - Vinegar Tits was my favourite screw I caught an ancient episode a week or so back, then saw your post so decided to see if I could watch it all from start to finish, watched the first episode tonight, turns out there are 692 episodes! 😲 So I have a few to go.

Yeah, toss that into the bonfire of the Countryfile theme, Adrian Chiles' sign-off on MotD2, the sound of the ironing board being set up, anyone saying "what do you want to do with the leftovers Monday", any mention of Monday on a Sunday whatsoever, and any other bastard reminders of 'HAHAHA! WEEKEND IS ALMOST OVER NOW, SERF' stuff.

Oh god the ironing board that my mum would set up in the living room. Poirot would come on and it was time for bed. When I got a portable in my room I would try and silently turn the TV on to watch Spitting Image.

Sunday nights were bath nights in ours and Jeeves and Wooster would be on the TV when I was getting dried off. Was great getting to watch a bit of "grown up" TV before bedtime.
Sunday afternoon Channel 4 in the early 00s was good too - the aforementioned Scrapheap Challenge and a bit of wrestling.

Charlie’s cat were the public safety thing for me.
I’ve a very confused memory of that tall guy from Star Wars doing one, and his mother lived around the corner from where I grew up and gave my mum his old cot, which I then used myself. I say confused as neither my mum or dad can remember this now so I’ve either made it up (unlikely as I’d never seen Star Wars then either) or they have forgotten themselves.

David Prowse did the road safety advert if that’s what you’re thinking?

I've got David Prowse's autograph. Twice. Once on a framed SW cell and another on the box of a (Han Solo) Funko Pop (why not Vader, I have no idea). My brother in law used to work in Hamleys and got them for me.

For those who brought up The Ancestral Trail, this is an interesting read. Although I’m not sure I agree that the series was a progenitor to Harry Potter like the author seems keen to assert. ianprobertbooks.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/the-birth-of-the-ancestral-trail/Also, don’t want to be that guy, but if he did the last 26 issues than he was responsible for the not-so-good half.

We’ve done mostly kids stuff so far so how about you’re off sick, you’ve got some Lucozade and an empty ice cream tub nearby just in case. What’s on the telly? How about Win, Lose or Draw?
This episode even has a pre-fame Johnny Vegas as a civilian contestant competing under his real name

That show's reminded me of a video game show hosted by the same host of Win, Lose or Draw on Sky in the 90s. I remember Speedball by the Bitmap Bros being one of the games they always played.

That would be Games World. Lot to like about Games World. It filled a time slot five days a week (although the interactive day was always shit). It combined video games with the popularity of pro wrestling to create a very watchable “end-game” that you’d look forward to every week. Will the winner of the heats be able to beat The Violet Blade? (T3 editor Rick Henderson dressed as a pirate). The tips and reviews nights were pretty good too. Although it did also give us David Walliams. So not all good.

But also Jet from Gladiators in dominatrix gear giving tips as "The Games Mistress"... so mostly good.
