You’re humming the theme tune right now.

Aussie kids show Round The Twist was a winner. So was Woof! with the boy who turned into a dog, they brought the dog to my primary school for assembly Have you ever Ever felt like this When strange things happen Are you going round the twist Ghostwriter was one of the shows we got to watch when they wheeled out the TV tower, great memories of seeing that thing. Sometimes we watch Bertha, oh lovely Bertha, sometimes I think you’re a dream Christ, the TV TOWER. Now I'm starting to remember BBC 2 schools stuff like Magic E, Geordie Racer and Through the Dragon's Eye. I can imagine it's aged terribly. I can see two sets of pigeon lofts from our bedroom window so that part is still pretty accurate up here

And while we’re mentioning Bertha - Charlie Chalk is another one my friends never remember.
Then you’ve got Ivor The Engine and Noggin The Nog the barely animated papercut out type shows. My dad still rolls those two out on his ipad for the grandkids.

I remember at school we had weekly screenings of Through the Dragon's Eye.
At first I wondered what the hell it was they were showing us, but was pretty dope.
I don't remember it being educational as such, but it was better than proper lessons.

Ok I'm just going to name a lot of endearing but low budget British cartoons that I loved as a kid.
Button Moon Trap Door The Shoe People Bananaman Tugboats Pob Mr Ben

Scotch VHS tapes? Guaranteed for life those beauties, I wonder if they'll still honour that... Memorable for me as I was shit-scared of a walking talking skelington in the mid 80's. My family used to re-record and play the advert just to make me hide behind the couch. Also see Worzel Gummidge, again, walking talking scarecrows that can take off their heads, no thank you, Mister Nightmare Fuel. Also, another reference lost on the kids is the Milk Tray Man. Someone in the office was wearing a fetching turtleneck jumper but didn't see the meme potential in it:-

Things like Through the Dragon’s Eye made me think quicksand and quagmires would be far more of a real life problem than they really are.

Quicksand always makes me think of a mcguyver episode that I may or may not be completely misremembering

Some great stuff from the Goodies there. Obviously I dig Cosgrove Hall stuff but as fun as the shows are lets hear it for how versatile David Jason’s performances were. And the CBBC Danger Mouse revival is genuinely fun as well. Even if they have totally remade my duck.

The more recent series of Dangermouse is actually properly good, with loads of references to classic scifi stuff like Terminator that I'm sure the kids watching it will miss entirely.

So, we've done cartoons, now the hard hitting dramas.
Grange Hill, obviously. Zammo, Danny Kendall, Jackie, Fay, Ro-land etc were my era but remember Gripper etc from before and Ziggy etc after.
Children's Ward - cracking stuff, covering some pretty meaty subjects.
Press Gang - launched some very successful careers.
Byker Grove - a bit after my time really.
What else?

There was that Aussie sci-fi kids show Tomorrow Girl(?). Clearly someone at the BBC had a good contact down under in the early 90s.

Fell down a deep internet rabbit hole trying to remember this one Arthur of the Britons with Oliver Tobias, late afternoons on whatever the fuck HTV was. Only the particularly decrepit will recall it, took all my internet detective skills to unearth it I remember bugger all about it other than man crush Tobias Just Saxons (possibly) forever riding from one place to another it seemed Obv left an impression, got an archeology O level and loved time team

Charlie says... never play with matches.
When we had the big earthquake in japan they stopped showing TV commercials for at least a week, so they replaced every commercial with government public safety ads.
It always took me back to the old Charlie Says ones... and jimmy!!!

Had a cursory glance and I don't think Jossys Giants had been mentioned yet. Perfect for the footy obsessed 9 year old me. youtu.be/0PEveJc8k8E?si=D9TIRPMaV_vkvKxmEdit - literally mentioned on the last page.

It worked though, I've never played with matches There was a bee(?) one too, where he/she wanted to firefly but ended up burning down the forest or something. Anyone remember that?

Youtube is drawing a blank but am I right that Ade Edmundson did bonfire night safety videos where he was voicing an angry firework?
Or have I mentally merged the Pepparami ads with some unrelated firework safety video?
