OK it was 96. As it was during the brief period where Mountain Dew was a thing in the UK in the 90s. So peak Brit Pop, post my parents divorce and going to High School. Anyway for some reason our town decides in line skates were for American wankers and 2x2 skates were the way forward. No fucking clue why. That was Rhys Ifans? I remember those adverts well but had no idea it was him. Mind blown.

As a footy mad youngster, I remember this getting a lot of mileage in our house. What a cartoon, one of the few things I'd switch over to watch on CITV, with Funhouse on a Friday. I would give EA real money if they had The Hurricanes kits on EAFC24.

When the gaming chiptunes really came into the public domain. Using the GB theme tune from RoboCop, to sell Ariston white goods. The top comment on YouTube got it spot on:-
"Serve the public trust"
"Protect the innocent"
"Uphold the law"
Classified (sell Ariston fridges)

The sister in the first season of Round the Twist was probably one of my first TV crushes. I think they changed the actress in the second season and I was sad. Hah same!

I love the deadpan Tim Key sounding voiceover they’ve paired with the chiptune

Anyone remember the stop motion skeleton ad used to sell blank VCR tapes?
“Re-record, don’t fade away, Re-record, don’t fade away, Re-record, don’t fade away…”

Scotch VHS tapes? Guaranteed for life those beauties, I wonder if they'll still honour that...

I think about that advert every few weeks, call them and tell them your tape died in 2024, will they replace it.

"The company will still honour that ages-old guarantee and if you post an old tape to them, they will send you a free BASF tape as a replacement."

Scotch VHS tapes? Guaranteed for life those beauties, I wonder if they'll still honour that... At Christmas my parents used to leave me and my brother stockings filled with small gifts to keep us occupied before the main present opening once everyone was up. One year we woke up and found we’d been left a three pack of blank VHS tapes each. We were the last of our friends to get a VCR so we went full Nintendo 64 kid over them.

Army brat so we used to get this off Dutch TV when we lived in Germany Think it (and Monkey) is responsible for my love of all things Japan that still endures Ah man, that was on bbc2 at 6pm, where it was either that, OG Star Trek, or Monkey. It was a great day when it was the water Margin or Monkey. Or even OG trek tbh. Then at some point it went to Star Trek TNG all the time. All of which were far better than watching the news while eating!

Yep loved that. Anything that featured a toilet was basically right up my street.

Aussie kids show Round The Twist was a winner. So was Woof! with the boy who turned into a dog, they brought the dog to my primary school for assembly
Have you ever Ever felt like this When strange things happen Are you going round the twist
Ghostwriter was one of the shows we got to watch when they wheeled out the TV tower, great memories of seeing that thing. Sometimes we watch Bertha, oh lovely Bertha, sometimes I think you’re a dream

When it comes to Aussie shows, everyone always mentions Round the Twist but nobody ever mentions Pugwall.
Or Heartbreak High for that matter.

Can't talk about Aussie shows and not mention Neighbours, the show so good they showed it twice a day.

Now I'm starting to remember BBC 2 schools stuff like Magic E, Geordie Racer and Through the Dragon's Eye. I can imagine it's aged terribly.
