Think it (and Monkey) is responsible for my love of all things Japan that still endures

I don’t remember that Parallel 9 thing at all. I just scrolled to the middle of it to have a look and saw Jaz Rignall from CVG on there Despite that it looked proper shite and that eyebrows bloke was annoying as fuck Sorry for dissing your favourite @drakesmoke

Legend had it that the main girl from the Demon Headmaster was at uni at the same time as me but I don’t know anyone who actually saw her in town.

This thread has been fantastic. I was half expecting some arse to come in the thread and allude to how much better they are than us for not being nostalgic but this has been really sound and I've had a good laugh. It's weird because in my head I've felt that only I experienced all this things, or watched these shows or played with these toys. Top work lads.

Byker Grove - literally all I remember is the ‘one of us’ cult, THAT paintball moment that traumatised a generation, and the fire You should read up on how thing final episode went Also, how come we’ve not had a Seaquest DSV reboot yet?

SeaQuest DSV was so boooooring. Just like all the other mid afternoon TV on a Saturday/Sunday, well apart from Knight Rider/Airwolf/Thunder in Paradise. Those were awesome.

Glad it didn’t. Although I did feel a bit gammon-y/drink from the hose when I had the idea.

It's weird to think of how much I played with action figures and simple games like Tomytronic. It's almost impossible to get my kids interested in action figures these days, and even if they do get interested and hyped about some, they'll play with them for a few days and then never touch them again. Youtube and video games on the other hand.. If I gave them the Racing Turbo they'd have fun with it for 30 mins and then never turn it on again. In fairness to your kids. I think once I got my hands on Doom in 93 and actual Warhammer I doubt I ever played with an Action Figure or similar properly every again. Maybe a high end Technic Lego kit. Might have been earlier in 91/92 when we got a Mega Drive but the point stands. Speaking of that age. Was there a weird year where everyone was in to skating? I think it was around 93 or 94 (after the great Pog craze). I distinctly remember everyone being obsessed with going to roller discos, listening to Brit Pop / Whigfield and customising their skates. The "in" ones to have were Roces. Sorta like these: www.skatepro.uk/61-34813.htm?stockcode=550096/00002/45&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkKJ8JtuyycPniZjiJGWyP2pp87Czi-KAC7OwPUPmRzZTHsmAjtcPtYaAklEEALw_wcBBut yeah this one year we were obsessed, buying spare parts in different colours, customising them with stickers, adding stoppers on the back with your dad's screwdriver. Then just nothing... Was it really super localised to my town though? As there was just this 1 specific shop that had it all.

There was a roller skate craze in the late 80s too. I remember plenty of kids in roller boots like those, and there was another brand, Bauer maybe, that were all the rage.

Was all about the skates in the late 80s. I'd say rollerblades took over in the mid 90s along with the Hypercolour t shirts that changed colour when you sweat.

Defo. Used to go to a weekly roller disco when I was 13 or so. Was great fun. Couldn't skate for shit then but there were girls there. And definitely wouldn't try it now.

OK it was 96.
As it was during the brief period where Mountain Dew was a thing in the UK in the 90s. So peak Brit Pop, post my parents divorce and going to High School.
Anyway for some reason our town decides in line skates were for American wankers and 2x2 skates were the way forward. No fucking clue why.

'Member when, in the late '80s, all the boys wore pastel Le Shark cardigans to their school discos?

Add in the horror of the opening chords of this monstrosity: m.youtube.com/watch?v=E7SqSNQeAFMAlways scrambled to switch channels to anything else. I'm also remembering Pigeon Street, Family Ness, and Jimbo and the Jetset as particularly annoying. Peak joy was this: m.youtube.com/watch?v=pZL23Xq1AgYAbsolute classic.

Ahhhhh School Discos at a Catholic school around the same time.
Some poor soul attempting to play the radio edit of Firestarter by the Prodigy with everyone just shouting over the top of it... though now I look it up I'm surprised it's "Punkin Instigator"...

I had the machine! I made pogs out of magazines, photos, whatever I could get my hands on. Probably did at least one using page 3 knowing me.

While doing a google for "Pog Factory", I ran across this:

What were those weird little plastic monsters you used to flick with your fingers to knock over another player’s plastic monsters? I swear it was a thing towards the end of the Pog craze and the pre light up Yo-yo phase.

Actually stuff that. Is anyone old/young enough to remember the late 90s Yo-yo phase? I got bought a really fancy one, but because it wasn’t cheap like all the other kids ones I still managed to feel left out. What a weird kid I was.

It always felt as there was a popular fad every week.

Duncan Firewheels were where it was at in maybe...86? You were out by a decade imo.

I'm not sure how many episodes I actually saw of The Adventure Game, but I was young enough that it felt really amazing and like they had actually beamed the contestants to space. I seem to remember that the contestants always failed/died? on the final challenge which made it feel kinda dark. Might just be my kid memories though.
PS/ The sister in the first season of Round the Twist was probably one of my first TV crushes. I think they changed the actress in the second season and I was sad.
PPS/ Told you 80s/90s themes were the best.
PPPS/ The recent-ish remake of The Demon Headmaster on CBBC is actually pretty good.

I remember some kid crying his eyes out in the playground after losing a whole ton of them in a game for keeps. I think we were 10 or 11 years old, so it was pretty funny. They got banned at our school after that.
