It has the potential to be amazing. Dead Cells is amazing. The art style is nice, but I need to see the game in motion to fully appreciate it it as some of those screen shots aren’t making sense to my eyeballs.
Just hope there’s no parrots in this one.

Oooooh. Right! I didn’t know there was a trailer. I thought it was just the screen shots. It looks great! Happy to wait until it makes its way to consoles, but I am onboard with that. Looks very snappy.
On a side note, I don’t know if it has been discussed here, but apparently the Sands of Time remake was rebooted again last summer after the last trailer was released. They’ve ditched the original voice actor and have shifted from matching the art style of the original to working on a more realistic presentation (in line with Assassins Creed Mirage) instead.
So that’s two scrapped attempts at a remake. One of which involved some of the original team. It’s surely not going to see the light of day for another couple of years.

Yeah, I can't say the trailer did much for me coming right off the back of the higher fidelity Lost Crown and it's all so TIIIINY as you say.

I bet I would have loved that on the Amiga. Can’t say it appeals now but I haven’t played Dead Cells so maybe I’m missing out.

It doesn't look particularly tiny to me. I imagine having a zoomed out view is better for fast paced platforming as well. Compare it to something like Celeste and it's pretty zoomed in.
Despite it looking fine, I don't really care. There are loads of good 2d action platformers these days.
I want my 3d parkour with time-rewinding game!!! And I'm gonna ignore all this other stuff until I get it!

At least this one's on Steam
Not being available there is part of the reason I haven't picked up Lost Crown yet...

They’ve ditched the original voice actor and have shifted from matching the art style of the original to working on a more realistic presentation (in line with Assassins Creed Mirage) instead. But the art style of the original was already pretty realistic, and Assassin's Creed Mirage doesn't look any more realistic, just more high-fidelity. I thought the remake trailer looked fine (at the time), and if everyone hadn't moaned about it I could have had it in my hands already. I hope their quest to make it 'realistic' isn't going to end up with them changing it too much, and making it all 'gritty'. Getting rid of the original voice actor isn't a great sign. Assuming it isn't just because his voice is too old now. He was great in the original.

I rebought the 4 SoT games and the cell shaded one in the Steam sale recently. Looking forwarded to working through them later this year. I did that a while back and loved them all, having not played any of them apart from Sands of Time back on the PS2 (which I adored then and adore now). Yes they get a little "emo" which I can understand being laughed at at the time, but playing them now the tone is completely fine with me. Enjoy

I'm playing SoT on the Wii/Gamecube at the moment and it's still great, despite the low resolution and a few sound issues (which are unique to the GC version I think).
I have them on PC as well, so I should probably be playing there to take advantage of the higher resolutions, but I kinda wanted to play it on the couch.
I hated the Emo-ness of Warrior Within at the time. The gameplay itself is really good, but they messed up a lot of the vibe. You go from the really great relationship between the prince and Farah to an annoying emo-teen protagonist battling ladies in bondage gear.
Once you get past that the level design makes it really fun though.

I’d rather have them on the PlayStation but, well, I can’t. My PC set-up is comfortable though (I went a bit OTT on that since wfh is a thing now).

King Darius is the first boss that's troubled me in a while. Might have been because I'd had a few drinks by then, but I couldn't get the timing right at all.

He is very tricky. I had to focus on learning to dodge all his attacks before going back onto the offensive. He’s one of those bosses that once you know how to fight them, they’re pretty easy. You just can’t really wing it on skill alone.

Got him down to his last phase on the first try, and then the 5 after that just kept rushing it.

I think he took me 5 or 6 attempts as well.

Most bosses took me double digit attempts. A couple must’ve been pushing 50 or more. This one, though, maybe three or four.
Tried it once and got battered. Went away. Did some puzzles. Came back. Couple of attempts and put him down!
No doubt we’ve each toiled on one that everyone else bossed, and hammered one that bogged everyone else down.

Beat the cunt. Think not being tipsy definitely helped.
Had a quick go at lunch and did it first time easily. Once you've got his patterns down it's a doddle.

Finished, final boss was easy compared to what came before. But fits with how powerful you are by then. Just a few collectable to mop up now.
There's another Metroidvania coming to ps plus next week that looks quite promising too.

Zau yeh. Shorter game by all I've heard but that's fine, don't think it's full price game anyway.

I think a shorter length suit the genre better anyway. I spent 30 hours on one Prince of Persia playthrough, but 55 hours on Metroid Dread (which I have completed 11 times). They’re the sort of game that just becomes more enjoyable the more you play it.

Started this a couple days ago. It’s pretty ace isn’t it? Though I can’t parry for shit. Should have named myself Mistimed Parry or something.

It’s definitely worth trying to nail the parry. It opens a pretty generous window for attacks. You’ll get to a point where if you successfully parry an enemy just once, you’ll be able to unleash a combo that kills them before they get another chance to attack.

I’m just going a little too early at the moment. Think I’ve been programmed to go at the start of the enemy attack animation in many games whereas the window is more near the end. Will get the hang of it soon!
