I thought I’d update this list to include the abandoned stuff, seeing my great run of great games has come to a sudden end this year. It was an amazing run, but perhaps I should get into the habit of trying out demos more often as even a discounted price on a game is still a loss if you don’t play it.
At least Mario Rabbids was amazing, third time around. That’s insanely good value for 120 hours worth of entertainment.

Hadn't really intended on getting it at first, as it is another game that wasn't well received, but Rhykker's review did point out some positive aspects like interesting classes and such. And apparently Matt Uelmen did the soundtrack again. I just wish the mixing was better.

Not sure how this passed me by first time around, but I was thoroughly impressed. Yes, the shooting and general action is a bit clunky but they completely nailed the vibe and story.

Another playthrough on Infamous. It did lead to a good amount of trial-and-error and both that and the high amount of traversal could get tedious at times. Lots of the latter was done on foot. Towards the end I gave up on some of the left-over side quests and just rushed through the last few missions. It's a game that comes together really, really well at times, but I did also have sessions which were just one failure after another.

Holy fuck that was so good. Will be in my Game of the Year convo for sure. Really did highlight how much great history Playstation has.
Whilst I waited for release, played loads of F12024 and Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies and made a lot of progress on both...but now onto Broken Sword Reforged which I'm three hours into and I couldn't resist Dead Rising.
Anything I'm in the middle of once Metaphor ReFangazmataz is out is being dropped though.

Yes it's a fairly standard block breaking ball bouncer game but it's addictive and with a finite number of levels to finish rather than incessant ads and timers to suck you in forever

Tricky one. I really enjoyed it and could happily continue mopping stuff up. But it is janky and the insta fail bits are just crap. Luckily most of the game isn't this and it really captures the star wars vibe excellently IMO, moreso than the Jedi ones.

Fifth playthrough. I actually bothered playing through the last few sections of the game. Usually I just stop before even going to the Leopold Society since there is almost nothing but combat and bossfights for about four hours.

Finished the last case and DLC case on the Portal, lovely stuff. Will take a break before starting the 6th game and probably do Steins;Gate Elite as been nine years since I played the PS Vita version and my word it was good!
Also approaching 30 hours into Metaphor ReFantazio which is easily going to be my Game of the Year, probably so far my game of the entire generation.

2 months since my last completion... This game was apparently 'over 20 Hrs' according to the Switch, but cannot give a bwtter estimate. A new entry in the Famicom Detective series (of which I haven't played the first two due to a lack of physical or decent digital sales).
More VN than the Ace Attorneys with an emphasis on questioning and remembering clues (including the odd Switch keyboard typing overlay). But the atmosphere and story are very well done with a dark, mostly mature tone (there is a bit of Japanese silliness but not a huge anount and it is actually an 18 PEGI game). Voices are mostly decent and translation and editing are generally pretty good throughout (with a couple of very minor typos late on and 1 egregious translation of a simple note (in my opinion)). Overall I enjoyed it (and it was mid priced too) and woild like to try thr prequels too when they fulfill my previously mentioned criteria.
In other mid progress recent games I have Iron Meat (which shouldn't be too bad) and System Shock remake to finish (maybe halfway through the latter), along with the Trials of Manner remake. Before the Dark Pictures 4 as it will be short. Tempted to get back on with my Trails series but that will finish off my completions as long games (finished Sky trilogy, next is the Crossbells). I will try and squeeze some shorter games in too.

The PS5 eays I took 19 hours on this but I doubt I took more than 10 (so odd, as I only played 2 evening sessions worth). Completed with 3/5 main characters surviving, 1 stupid early death and one fairly late one. 10/31 trophies (31%). Played as a PS Plus Extra game.
I quite enjoyed the setting and story of this one and it had a decent anount of freedom of exploration for the series. However, the new hide mechanic sucked and I only did it successfully once (and no real consequences for my failures). Still looks fairly pretty and decetly casted. Ifbyou like the previous ones this is also worth a play.
So a step closer, need some more short games alongside my likely Trails continuation .

I completed this earlier today with 2/5 surviving and then not... and 14/31 trophies, actually unlocked 2 further ones but they did not and have not "popped" TBH I was bored for most of my playthrough, but did enjoy the very start and the last section a fair bit. I'm going with 5/10 |
